Thank you for the best 11 years, one week, and two days of my life. I cannot wait to see you again, my forever best friend. Rest easy now, Keebler. You earned it. 🐾💜

Lesson from Covid… by the time you realize that you need mandatory quarantines and mass testing… it’s too late for those measures to be fully effective. Waiting until people become symptomatic to test/ isolate is a bandaid on a hemorrhage.
The Associated Press@AP

BREAKING: One of the 17 American passengers evacuated from a cruise ship in the Canary Islands has tested positive for the hantavirus but is not showing any symptoms, U.S. health officials said. apnews.com/article/hantav…

Ppl act like any acknowledgement of a virus is fearmongering and then be like "why am I so sick all the time and balding and have no energy :("

It pains me to watch society get less and less empathetic towards each other. This toxic hyper individualism is threatening our survival. "I don't need to worry about anyone." Actually, living in a society means your actions affect those around you. We all need to care.

But this is why fascism appeals so much to people. Because it is inherently a rejection of communal responsibility. You worship the individual. Anyone who cant survive wasnt worthy of living at all.
Kelly@broadwaybabyto

Quarantining during a public health threat is not a punishment. It’s not a violation of your freedoms. It’s part of being in a society. You do not have the right to spread a dangerous and deadly disease to others. Robust public health measures save lives.

You're not afraid of another pandemic. You're afraid of not being able to get brunch for a couple months. You are very capable of ignoring the actual suffering part.

You don't wanna get vaccinated. Social distance. Wear a mask. Nothing. But you somehow want us, the public health workforce, to make all the bad things go away. With what? Magic?

If you think not being able to brunch for 12 non-consecutive weeks 6 years ago destroyed you spiritually, I'd love to hear your thoughts on disabled and immunocompromised people who have been locked inside for years because no one uses the most basic precautions against viruses.

people seem to be truly more afraid of being Quarantined than they are afraid of death or being responsible for the death of someone else

Statements like this make me want to slam my head against a wall.... The level of willful ignorance it takes to ignore the pandemic that never ended and then have the audacity to question why so many otherwise "healthy" people are continuing to die is beyond comprehension.
Dana Parish@danaparish

🚨 🚨 Shocking revelation from @questlove: “I’ve wondered is there a pandemic happening that I’m not aware of. I’ve had 11 friends die of Stage 4 cancer in the last year alone.” 🤯

To be clear, Covid has an acute & a chronic phase. For many, the acute phase can now be relatively ‘mild’, but the chronic phase can continue to inflict all manner of evil on one’s body. Career destroying complications can appear months post-infection, including asymptomatic ones
charlos@loscharlos

“I just didn’t want to accept my career was ending so soon because of COVID, because of a virus so out of my control… eventually I got to a point where… 15 months in, I’m still housebound, still mostly bedbound, unable to do most basic things” #LongCovid thesicktimes.org/2026/04/28/pro…

Collectively abandoning vulnerable people during a pandemic is one of the fastest ways to manufacture consent for the disposability of entire populations. Failing to see that connection is part of the problem.
