My husband asked me to sell the only property I own.
Not for us.
Not for our children.
For his brother.
His brother had racked up another mountain of debt.
And my husband said the easiest solution was to sell the small house my mother left me.
“Don’t worry,” he said. “I’ll pay you back.”
I looked at him and realized he still didn’t understand.
That house is not just a piece of real estate.
It is the only thing in this world that is unquestionably mine.
My mother spent 30 years scrubbing floors to buy it.
She missed birthdays.
Worked double shifts.
Saved every spare dollar.
So that no matter what happened in my life, I would always have somewhere to land.
A locked door.
A safe bed.
An emergency exit.
My husband sees a building.
I see my mother’s sacrifice.
He sees money.
I see security.
And if I sell it, the cash won’t become an investment.
It will disappear into his brother’s latest disaster.
No contract.
No repayment schedule.
Just a promise.
And promises don’t replace foundations.
When I said no, he accused me of choosing property over family.
But that’s not what happened.
I chose the one thing my mother built to protect me.
I love my husband.
But I will not burn down my parachute to cushion someone else’s fall.
The house stays.

@TrumpsHurricane My devout Indonesian relatives and friends visited Australia. They wore their normal clothes without hijab. They bought other clothes and left many for my mum. Sensible. Bless them. It’s called compromise. Fitting in.

@its_The_Dr We got one major present( not necessarily expensive) doll or train etc. And some smaller gifts in a stocking . Mum taught us to love all gifts from uncles and aunts and never to show on our face if we didn’t like it. Gratitude

@its_The_Dr It’s your job to teach him gratitude. 🙏 No presents til he says he is sorry

@mensrightsbunny @ViQueenie Bullshit! Wavepools are great. Not easy.
English

It's like me taking my teenage son to a pool and being proud he just rode a fake wave. Where the environment is controlled and you have cameras 🤣 It's SO cringe it's beyond because my son who's 17 can actually surf in the SEA 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And the cringe cheer at the end. Kill me now.
Her cooking like someone in college, basic bitch and him being infantilised surfing is SO them.
English

IDK if she’s mocking him or what. Because bragging about your middle-age husband surfing in a makeshift ocean, is next level cringe!

@has_janey18742 @newscomauHQ My power bill went up exactly $75 the gift was noted
English

@newscomauHQ We were promised money/savings for electricity with this Govt. And we all know how that worked out.
I doubt the capacity to carry it out. It would be a hit to tourists and non-residents (one hopes) - but Labor has no mandate for this - none.

Australians would get a $3300 payment in exchange for a hike in the GST. Full story: bit.ly/45n6vUl
