The fact that California elections often can't be resolved for weeks is kind of insane and not common in other electoral systems around the world.

Towery: I am concerned about Republican turnout. In Georgia, Democrats turned out 150,000 more early voters. That’s not a good sign. I don’t think enough of President Trump’s achievements are being out for the public to see.

@kylegriffin1 He doesn’t need the job. And regardless, surely even dipshits like Bilton and Weiss know they can’t fire him without inflaming the situation 10x and threatening a major exodus of remaining talent

BREAKING: ‘60 Minutes' correspondent Scott Pelley confronted new EP Nick Bilton during an intro meeting Bilton organized with staff — grilling him about recent firings and Bari Weiss. "She's murdering '60 Minutes.'" "She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it—and she's doing exactly that." status.news/p/scott-pelley…

Susan Collins has been in the United States Senate for my entire life. She has no major accomplishments, and it would be hard to argue that the people of Maine are materially better off because of her decades-long career in Washington. So maybe the media needs to spend a little less time focused on Graham Platner's character and a little more time focused on Susan Collins's, because she has become a stand-in for a political system that has left far too many people behind. I'm not defending his actions, but that's why so many people don't give a shit about Graham Platner's moral defects.

@cwebbonline I'd rather see the evidence that the other guy stands a chance against Collins first. She's hurt millions and done crazy damage to our country. If it's Platner or her I'll roll the dice on him doing better than her consistent approach of doing the worst thing.

Maine, is still in the primary phase of this election. Maybe they can pick another candidate without all this horrible toxic baggage and terrible judgement. Platner has a list of 🚩 a mile long: Nazi tattoo, sexually explicit online activity, offensive and bigoted comments, victim-blaming remarks about sexual assault, racial stereotypes, homophobic slurs, associations with extremist and antisemitic figures, repeated use of inflammatory rhetoric, allegations of campaign intimidation, questions about his finances and public assistance.

People don't understand why having musicians perform at Freedom 250 means so much to me. When James Garfield Jr. was on his deathbed, he revealed that when he was a young boy, his father President Garfield took him into the city to see a marching band. The old Garfield asked him in an very serious tone asked him, "Son, when you grow up will you be the savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned?" The future President asked, "Will you defeat them? Can you defeat your demons, and stand up to all the non-believers and the plans that they have made?Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom and when that happens, I'm going to need you to carry on. I want you to be able to play in that parade yourself someday." Well, young Jimmy Garfield learned to play the clarinet and got accepted into a marching band. He was so excited that he ran home to tell his father only to find out he had been shot by Charles J. Guiteau and lay dying. The younger Garfield could have given up when the world sent him reeling from decimated dreams. He could have let his misery and hate kill them all, but instead he threw his heart into the clarinet and invented The Charleston, so don't ever tell me that music and politics are unrelated.
