@Sassafrass_84 We have a small yard that my husband is very proud of as well. It's been so difficult to keep it beautiful with this lack of rain here in Lakeland!

My husband spent 5 hours mowing the front, sides, and back yard that is not pasture for our cows. He takes pride in our lawn. Again. Not everybody cares, but we care about having a beautiful lawn. Also, it's springtime. So, grass is not completely green yet.

Good lord, the number of triggered people under my comment. It's not that deep. I grew up in California. Men watered their grass. Cut it to perfection. My dad taught me never to walk on somebody's grass. It's their pride and joy. Use the sidewalk. This was a golden rule for a reason. Back in the 50's and 60s, men love to perfect their lawn. This again is how I was raised. Yes, we had picnics on OUR grass. Yes, with permission, we were allowed to do water slides and play games. Again...with permission. You dont just randomly walk on somebody else's grass. It's a respect thing. Again, this is how I grew up. Calling me a karen and an anal tw*t because I choose respect over being rude and sloppy just means that you dont value the same things. And that's ok. The butthurt is out today. Good lord. Chill.

The framing on this issue is all wrong. This is NOT just about Gen-X-specific "nostalgia" for how Pizza Hut used to look. It's bigger. The old decor was *human*. Warm. Inviting. People like salad bars, too, not just because "nostalgia". These are things *people like*, not just specific cohorts who want specific looks that emulate their childhood. Everything today is sterile and hostile in color and form. McDonalds looks literally like a prison. Nearly every chain has built in Brutalist concrete, decorating in Millennial Mortuary Gray. People--not just Gen X--are tired of human-hostile architecture. -J

I’ve gone to the same gym for almost 4 years now. Good friends with nearly everyone there. One day a guy who used to make small talk with me, just stopped. Didn’t think much of it, but it went on for weeks. Found out later he’s a liberal and someone showed him my X account and he just won’t talk to me now. This has happened many many many times since becoming publicly conservative. I’ve lost many friends and even many more acquaintances. They won’t even discuss us. Won’t even look at me. It’s bad for me… but it’s 10,000x worse for my wife. Liberal women are genuinely EVIL to conservative women. It’s on another level. Pure evil. No one talks about this enough but the public shaming of people who are openly conservative is extremely intense and unless you have a lot of mental fortitude and surround yourself with better people quickly… I can understand why many find it is not worth saying anything at all. But that doesn’t make it harder for those of us who speak up… because we are the few.

I just got a phone call from my kid's school. They have cancelled his classes for this Friday, May 1st so that school staff can go protest. I'm so pissed. Every parent I know is scrambling for childcare right now, trying to take off work, they have NO IDEA what they are going to do. How does this happen?! How can they just cancel school for my kid so they can play activist when they should be teaching him TO READ AND DO MATH?! This may be our last straw... Homeschooling feels inevitable at this point. I'm so sick of this... I've been holding my toungue but I will do so no longer. If you want to fix the public schools, you are going to have to do the hard things that NOTHING in this protest will do: 1) DEPORT ALL THE ILLEGAL ALIENS and funding per AMERICAN student will increase DRASTICALLY How do I know? Because when ICE came to Charlotte NC, guess how many kids didn't show up to school? 30,000 kids. Yes, nearly 20% of ALL KIDS didn't show up to school because of ICE, so what does that tell you about how many illegal aliens we have going to our public schools in this country? 2) DRASTICALLY DEFUND THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF. There are HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE in school administration in North Carolina right now making $200,000-$315,0000. Guess what? None of them are teachers. Guess which positions in schools have grown in the past 10 years? Number of students: 2.5% increase Number of teachers: 2.2% increase Number of administrators: 45% increase Number of consultants: 107% increase You want to pay teachers more? Great, then you now know EXACTLY where to look. Because the "middle-management" for North Carolina schools grew 20x FASTER than the student population, so there's a good place to start. Sorry for the rant... I've been patient. I've been engaged. I've gone to the meetings. I've read the emails. I've donated, a LOT. I'm really close to just being done. If the public school system thinks canceling class so the adults can go to a rally is acceptable, then the public school system has told me exactly what it values. And it isn't my kid.

President Trump, thank you. Not for a policy. Not for an executive order. Not for a rally or a speech or a headline. For something so much more personal than any of those things. Thank you for waking up every single morning at 79 years old, when staying in bed would have been so much easier. Thank you for skipping meals that went cold, for missing family moments that never came back, for traveling to countries most Americans cannot find on a map, for sitting in briefings before most of America opened its eyes, for carrying criticism that would have broken most people permanently, for getting back up every single time the world said stay down, for donating every single dollar of your salary, for giving up the most comfortable life imaginable to sit in the most uncomfortable chair on earth and carry the weight of 340 million people without once asking any of us to notice. You did not have to do any of this. You had everything…the money, the properties, the comfortable life, the peace…and you gave all of it away for a country that does not always stop to say thank you. And today I am stopping. Because I refuse to be part of that silence anymore. Today, in front of every single American reading this, I want to say what most people feel but never actually say out loud. Thank you, President Trump, for everything you gave that we never asked for, for everything you carried that we never fully saw, for every morning you chose America over yourself. We see you.
