This is a great opportunity to help gather and preserve the historical experiences of women and gender-diverse folks in #Newfoundland and #Labrador. Thanks so much to Dale Jarvis and @hfnlca for partnering with us on this exciting initiative!

Mark you calendars! This is going to be a great event, focusing on everyday people and their perspectives of Confederation. The research is based on letters that people from across the province wrote to Smallwood, housed at Archives & Special Collections. @MUN_asc @Greenspond555

@storied_selves Could it be "Bankes were flying... as in "Blanks" or "Blankes"? Doesn't look like there is an "l" in the word, but it would make sense in the context of a gun salute. And the a's look like o's in other words.

This is a great video of Newfoundland Park taken in the late 1920s. Y-Ravine Cemetery can be seen in the distance and the lack of trees on the park’s perimeter gives a better idea of how the landscape looked during the War. © IWM MGH 2082

@storied_selves A little late to the discussion here but, like @slewisimpson, I think it's NFLDer. That's the first thing I saw. And actually, it looks like "NFLDer & disappointed confederate. Carbonear" which makes sense if they are saying Peter Cashin is the only one who told the truth.
