@MsGrowitz @OsterElementary It is so great to hear that you’ve become a teacher. I’m sure your students love being in your class as much as I loved being your teacher. 🥰

We had so much fun this week in TK learning about the letter M! S’s did a directed draw of a monkey🐒 Our week ended with fun Friday full of m&m’s! We did a fun science experiment & used our m&m’s for some sorting & graphing. @OsterElementary #tkadventures #usdlearns

Supporting our Asian Elders. We made cards to share with elderly Asian Americans. To be honest I did not really tell students what to say because I didn’t quite know 🤷‍♀️ Clearly they did not need any help 💕 #usdlearns #carlton

@heidishima It's my daughter's voice. She also wrote the lyrics. She's super talented! Of course, I'm a little biased.

Dartmouth's top 15 Math Club students are about to participate in the 2021 MathCounts Chapter Competition. They're excited and nervous, but happy to be playing. #MATHCOUNTS21 #dmseagles #usdlearns

Today’s distance learning highlights: starting a new book (which means faux fire logs for ambience!) & a stunning sunset to end the day on campus. It’s the little things! ☺️📚🔥🌅 #dmseagles #usdlearns

Today, I told my students "Here's how I'm going to grade your tests: I look at it, tell you what to fix, you fix it, and I'll give you an A. We're in a pandemic. Life is stressful as it is, and my goal isn't to stress you out even more."

It's true that the relationship with my Ss is the heart of my job. I’m just not sure how to build these relationships while behind a screen. I'm beginning to feel like the Wizard Of Oz. Believe me, I’m no great wizard. Not online. But in real life, in my classroom, I kind of am.

I came to a realization today. I have been trying to simulate my real life classroom, but nothing can take the place of that. No Zoom. No Breakout Room. No Jamboard. No Peardeck or Nearpod will come close to it.

If we fill our balloons with happiness and joy our balloons will be fine they wont blow up nor shrink they will be still and peaceful." Monique. And with this I start drafting emails to all of my students. Encouraging them one last time to think, to create, to write.

Reader beware. The following is a rant. I hate online school so much. These are directions on one of my slides this week. “Reread your quickwrites. Choose your favorite one that you would like to revise and edit to create a final draft. Share your final draft on this padlet.”

One student's response to the question—What do you miss the most about "real" school?—"I miss seeing everyone, and in online school it just kind of feels "fake" or I don't really know... It was just much better and everyone laughed more, and here it just kind of feels different."
