I realize David Vanterpool might be shooting for the moon, so here’s a more realistic idea. Dave Moore. He would be a great fit on and off the court. Same principles as Schmidt. He was directly responsible for a lot of the player improvement in his time here as an assistant.

Fair or not, Woj has been under siege for the past week. If he wants to get back in Bonnies fans good graces, he needs to hit a home run with this hire. I think all will be forgotten/forgiven if he brings Vanterpool home. He’s at the top of my shortlist of Schmidt replacements.

No call on a forearm shove to the neck of Simmons by Bennett. And could be wrong but looked like a clean steal by Charles on the replay that was called a foul and put Dayton on the line.
Simmons then gets called for a weird foul after a layup to put Dayton on the line again.

There won’t be instant gratification no matter who winds up next head coach.
Whoever gets the job, most Bona fans will probably talk themselves into him by summer and hope for the best.

Before anyone starts with the "they're hiring a D2 coach" crap....Daemen have been a Top 25 D2 program for a few years now. They've been in the national rankings every week since the start of the 2023-24 campaign - last year finishing the regular season ranked #1. @SBUnfurled I do not doubt that the right guy could win at Bona's but where are you finding him...in this age it's not about what Bona's holds dear making this an impossible situation. Should have let him finish his contract out and done this the right way not creat this nightmare no 1 want

It's predictable. 90% of those people likely think SBU has just been Lanier and Schmidt and nothing else.
People familiar with SBU hoops know there's only been two brief downturns in the last 80 years. Eight of the last 11 coaches going back to 1948 are above .500 here.

@SBUnfurled Let me tell you...it was not pretty. Mediocre at best. Chapman, Solomon....You cannot improve on what we had unless you are hiring Pat Riley...or Coach K wants to come to Bona's. If you pay less your going to get less.

A bit surreal watching Schmidt exit the arena for the last time, and it’ll be even more strange seeing someone else man the sideline come November.
The previous coach is a distant memory for those who do remember, and for many fans Schmidt is all they know.

The Bonnies were down 54-43 with 12 minutes left, then proceeded to go on a 41-16 run for an 84-70 final.
Simmons scored 21 second half points, and SBU won turnovers 16-4 (21-3 points off).

Ermakov's first points as a Bonnie were a big three to cut it to 24-21.
An Egbuniwe triple cut it to two, and a Mitchell transition bucket tied the game at the U8.
Simmons has to stay hot and Bonnies need to slow the pace a bit. BIG stretch for the Bonnies there.

Reading an article about Melvin Council Jr. and it occurs to me that idk why you would want to leave a program where you play all the min to one where you will see ten min if you are lucky. 💰🙄..it's not everything
