@heisogplus

Old videogames are better. Singleplayer gaming without all the noise. This is not another „retro“ account.

@luscielia That freakin baby from Village. It was so unexpected and surprising after the action-heavy, RE4 inspired levels. It hit different.

@16bitnostalgia I played this game two years ago (I‘m 36) and felt like a kid again. None of today’s AAA games made me feel like this. It holds up so well. For me it‘s the best JRPG, together with FFVI.

@hard8_times Respect that you had the patience and put 25hrs into it. That‘s a long time. And then it‘s really sad when it doesn‘t get any better.

I put 25hrs into Crimson Desert and I'm done. The game is tedious, boring, controls suck, and the story is trash. The devs stole a bunch of ideas from games you wish you were playing and mastered none of them. The open world looks nice but it's wasted on a mediocre game👎🏾

Today’s gamers won’t understand. Mastering the controls was part of the learning curve. My favorite game of all time, Resident Evil 4, has similar „tank controls“. It played a substantial role for the overall experience. When tank controls became a thing of the past and some games still used it, they where criticized for it. Best example I have is Metroid Prime, which didn’t get the highest score from a popular german magazine especially because of its tank controls. Prime was seen as an FPS-game, which it wasn‘t, it was an Action Adventure that used the FPS camera. It also had a lock-on function like older 3D Zelda games. Tank controls were pushed away and disappeared. I would say, rightfully so. Todays controls are much more intuitive. But many games in the past, like Resident Evil or Dino Crisis, Tomb Raider, shooters like Medal of Honor, Goldeneye or Turok where incredibly fun with the control schemes that were used back then. x.com/heisogplus/sta…

Tank controls are easy. They can be understood by anyone willing to give them 20 minutes.

Batman: Arkham City literally spoils its own ending in the first few minutes if you're paying attention. The painting in the intro, that appears right at the very start of the game has a writing under it that says "Cain & Abel: The Duality of Man." It's a custom painting created for the game (!). It shows Cain carrying his murdered brother's body across a wasteland - exactly the same pose, framing, and emotional weight as the final cutscene where Batman carries Joker's corpse out of the Monarch Theatre. Rocksteady did this on purpose. It's listed in official Easter egg guides as a direct reference symbolizing Batman‘s and Joker's "opposing but symbiotic roles." The biblical story (first murder, brother against brother) mirrors their twisted, codependent rivalry: They're two extremes that define each other - Batman needs the Joker's chaos to justify his crusade, and the Joker needs Batman's resistance to give his anarchy meaning. One "kills" the other, yet the survivor is left empty, carrying the weight of the loss. This is the kind of detail that makes replaying the game hit different. Absolutely brilliant writing and art direction.

@RPM_PlayStation Capcom revived Onimusha, so the next step HAS TO BE Dino Crisis. Let‘s hope for the best.

@Grxit It is a great game today, bugs have been fixed, graphics/mechanics aged well. Also, many people wanna play old-style AC games rather than the new RPG-style entries. Besides: Many games are not enjoyable right after release nowadays.

Polish researchers have developed the first tool to measure "post-game depression" a temporary feeling of emptiness, sadness, or loss after finishing an immersive video game. The study of 373 players found stronger effects in RPGs, where deep emotional investment with characters make the end feel like a real loss.

Finished Batman: Arkham City again after many many years. I can remember my reaction back then: „No! No way they did this!“ I watched the credits roll, looked for any clues in the endgame, but no: They actually did it.
