It has come to my attention (just kidding I've heard this nonsense for years) that SOME photographers think that other photographers ONLY take photos to please the algorithm. Are you always shooting to please the algorithm?
@DNAmlin So Mike, would you suggest learning Rust as a compilable language for bioinformaticians whose main language is Python? I've been trying to decide Rust v Go v Swift.
4) For my home field of bioinformatics, unfortunately I believe Rust's current approach to errors and error handling is just not going to fly with a wide swath of the mixed-skill audience.

@infoecho We now know how GoT ended. Similarly in the *-seq world we know that white walkers are real and Targaryen are very much back! (Not sure about Lannister+Targaryen crossing attempts.)
Many years ago, someone made analogies of Game of Thrones to the war among DNA sequencing vendors.
Given strong financial support for a couple companies now, I am wondering how people think about the analogy... #DNASequecingBusiness
@infoecho Oxford Nanopore are the white walkers - no one believed they were real, and only a few people had ever seen one in person, but now the wall is down and they're invading the world.
@infoecho Roche is house Stark - their 454 platform was beheaded very early on, but they've been building up things in the background and might be poised for a comeback.
@infoecho Hi @infoecho
I've heard it from @DrKenMcGrath at AGBT 2018:
Illumina is House Lannister - they've ruled the sequencing throne for years, but they replace their king every season.
