@WestsideLAGuy American was 0% white at some point of time and it should've been that way. Anyway, majority do not see this as a bad thing.

Most Americans have no idea how radical the demographic change in the country has been since 2010. Much of the cultural & social problems we discuss on X are downstream of that. In 2010 America was ~70% White. Now it's just ~56% White. In addition, post-2010 immigration has been disproportionately unmarried men from Latin America & Asia and politically/culturally leftist. This is why NYC elected Mamdani and why LA will elect an Indian American socialist woman as its next mayor. This also is why White Americans in urban areas are retreating inward, turning to private exclusive events & networks as their primary social outlets (pilates, skiing, golf, are also part of this). Demographics is destiny.

I disagree, I think I'm exactly in the right place. They're gradually getting far more expensive than humans, while producing more junk and less actual work, and the overwhelming majority of businesses who implemented them have not seen any returns at all, despite huge spending. Let's agree to disagree though, thanks for the talk 🤝

@hellcatcapital Yeah bro, you’re just behind on this. Not saying that to be a jerk at all but you’re behind and light on the knowledge here. It’s not at all just a google (though some people use it for that). In the business space especially it does far more.

I mean, that's pretty much objectively what it is. It can't TRULY do anything on its own, it can't learn the way a human can, the list just goes on. It is also only as good as the data it is trained on (ie the internet) or ingests from end users and there is a lot of garbage out there too. So if it is pre-trained on everything, including the junk, it's already flawed, and it having to be pre-trained is already a flaw on top of that.

@hellcatcapital I think you haven’t looked into what AI is doing enough big guy. Seems like you think it’s just a glorified Google

I genuinely don't find it to be all that, it is all just automation software mimicking language, that just reaches out to databases and spits out the most likely answer to your prompt. Call me bearish or whatever, but I was hoping we would have had a moon colony or cured serious diseases by now.

There’s def been some bs fear there, but the capabilities they actually show and are used in real life are massive. As are ones from other groups, and more and more agentic stuff. I’ve seen these things in conferences that are wild. Even if ya just wanna talk about a company with a moat, surely Google has one correct?

Sure it went up, but that's because they were able to demonstrate profitability, had their moat, and had a proven track record of a successful model. My argument is also more than just that, my biggest problem, money pit aside, is that the technology isn't even what they claim it is, and they are always blatantly lying about its capabilities, while also scaremongering to everyone.

What happened to Amazon’s valuation as it invested in aws, even before it was profitable? It went up right? Specifically because of the added value that was clear aws would bring. Smart money knew that then, they seem to believe that now. Your argument essentially is just “I don’t like how much this costs for them to keep trying to meet demand.”

They didn't start AWS until a few years after the first whole year they were profitable, and even then it took around 7 years for AWS to become profitable. Now ofc, this isn't as bad as Anthropic's case because Amazon was wildly profitable in e-com, and ofc the leader in e-com, so they could eat the AWS losses. Anthropic does not have the same moat here.

Amazon was investing heavily in data centers during this period where they had little to no profit too?? wtf do ya think aws is lol. And what do ya mean rapidly becomes obsolete? That’s not how this works. Plus with their revenue skyrocketing every month, obv there is a market for what they’re doing

Amazon was heavily investing in warehouses, logistics, and technology that made their operations continually cheaper, and that's how their bet was able to pay off, it all led to lower prices and faster delivery, and they were also lucky to have had the biggest tailwind of the time, the early internet. The reality is that Anthropic cannot and does not stop spending money on compute that rapidly becomes obsolete, especially with how intensively it's used, and their margins are thinner. It doesn't help that their subscription costs are about to skyrocket either. This is all quite literally a gamble on them MAYBE someday achieving a breakthrough discovery, which I really doubt. Don't get me wrong, I believe we will achieve true AI someday, but I think we are really going about it the wrong way and that this is the greatest misallocation of our time.

@hellcatcapital @Hopkinbj @burby_geek @Mont_Jiang Mlmao what are you talking about? You absolutely do not need to make a profit to keep growing. In fact investing to grow your business and potential is a brilliant use of revenue. Ya know how many years Amazon didn’t make a dime of profit?

@hellcatcapital @Hopkinbj @burby_geek @Mont_Jiang Anthropic is on track to do $40 billion in revenue this year, and that keeps going up each month. They’re all making a fuck ton of money. They’re just reinvesting it in infrastructure. You don’t need to make a profit as long as you invest to increase your valuation

@Hopkinbj @burby_geek @Mont_Jiang profits? where? and before you mention amazon being in debt for a long time, they were in the red a few billion, and were a unique standout of their time. OpenAI has close to 200 billion dollars of debt to dig themselves out of, with no moat.

@hellcatcapital @burby_geek @Mont_Jiang The profits are being used to build the data centers. The data centers have been helping them increase their profits further. Eventually they will cut back on capex and have larger profits than before.
