Greece's Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou confirmed today that the plan is meant to fight "toxicity," "hoaxes," and "character assassinations." Mister Papastergiou says modern "digital democracy" should be "inspired" by Ancient Greece, where citizens openly expressed their views. He apparently forgot the parts of Ancient Greece involving secret ballots, ostracism shards, and pseudonymous political pamphlets. The Athenian Assembly invented anonymous voting precisely because public attribution is dangerous.

Today marks 205 years of Greek independence. I was grateful to stand in solidarity with Greek Orthodox New Yorkers at the Divine Liturgy, commemorating this triumph of self-determination. From Athens to Astoria, we are reminded that true freedom is the ability to live without fear and shape our own futures. That is the autonomy we are fighting to secure for every single New Yorker. They called a Red Cross ambulance to evacuate him north to safety. Israeli forces in nearby Debel got word. They phoned the paramedics and issued a blunt threat: hand him over or we bomb the ambulance. The paramedics refused. Then came one of the most dignified acts of this war. The severely bleeding fighter losing blood fast chose to walk himself to Debel and turn himself in. His only reason: to protect the paramedics and the local residents from Israeli retaliation. This is the same occupation that has bombed churches and smashed statues of Christ with sledgehammers in these very Christian border villages. A Hezbollah fighter who bled for every inch of Lebanon, and in his final act before capture, chose to bleed alone rather than risk innocent lives. The contrast between his selfless act to save lives and Israel couldn't be more stark.
