@JoshEakle You're absolutely correct, it's toxic and a problem. Do you have anything to offer the men he's appealing to other than derision or useless platitudes? No? Then you have no way whatsoever of preventing them from going down this ideological path. It's either him or Tate.

Yes, this is incredibly cringe. But what many people miss is that Nick is offering something more than just content. He’s building an intellectual framework for Incels—a kind of philosophy that helps them rationalize and cope with their lack of companionship. More specifically, he's not making fun of incels—he's building a pipeline between Incel culture and antisemitism, neo-Naziism, etc. Given the sharp decline in relationships among Gen Z, it’s no surprise this message is resonating with a sizable segment of young men. It’s funny on the surface, but underneath is something deeply insidious and dangerous. If we don’t address the root causes, it’s only going to get worse.

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous I think I have a chicken-egg disagreement here. That said, I appreciate the polite discussion. In the interest of not spamming a bunch of new threads to lose track of, if you want to continue it in DMs we can -- if not, no worries.

@helloooobyebye @Frediculous I'd say any "advantages" women get in the system is more of a quirk and byproduct of being objectified as a resource. If patriarchy had an easy way to strip all of that, it would've done so.

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous Imo there is room between blackpill hatred and the sort of doormat "yas-kweening" a lot of feminist men did in response to things like the man-bear hypothetical

@helloooobyebye @Frediculous A huge portion of women vote against their interest and uphold the patriarchy, no argument there. It is genuinely irritating that empowerment language has been co-opted by shitlibs Recentering is often in response to blaming women as an anti-feminist gatcha, and not men as well

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous I'd probably call myself a tepid anti-feminist in light of most of the rhetoric I've seen from that direction in the last decade, but with notable exceptions most blaming of women that I see is in response to simplistic and one-sided condemnations of men's behavior.

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous That has shades of what I'm talking about. "Patriarchy" is a mix of privileges and disadvantages for each gender, and both genders enforce it. Abstracting the discussion of those specific privileges and disadvantages prevents them ever being solved or addressed.

@helloooobyebye @Frediculous Men aren't inherently oppressive nor inherently tied to the patriarchy. Creation of a patriarchy-esq system isn't baked into human instinct But men are bound by it and harmed by it, just not to the degree that women are

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous Well, if there were more of a track record of "let's talk about how women enforce patriarchy" then sure. But like I said, 99% of the time "patriarchy hurts men too" is brought up to deflect from some toxic trend men specifically are facing and re-center the conversation on women

@helloooobyebye @Frediculous I mean, it is gendered. That's the reason it was constructed, to benefit men *in a hierarchical framework* That doesn't mean it's the best system for men, just that it is at the expense of others Pop/centrist/lib/aesthetic "feminism" conflates men and the patriarchy

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous I recognize that it is frustrating for women to deal with the male sex-brain and how early it enters into interactions and sorts them into boxes, but most of that is hardware we can't really change. "Patriarchy" just implies that's the only problem with dating too often for me.

@helloooobyebye @Frediculous Oh I agree it sucks all around. Don't get me wrong. Imo treating relationships as an extrinsic objective, rather than intrinsic, creates huge issues I know I'll probably get flak, but a lot of it is the patriarchy. It objectifies both men and women, especially relationships

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous I mean that's where it's at for us approaching you. Some girl will find us creepy, another will find us hot. One will be infuriated if we're not texting back, another will think we're desperate and ghost if we text back too quickly. There's really no solution for this in dating.

@Frediculous Problem is that scale is subjective. Someone might not detect any signals, but another will find it to be slutty Not advocating for one way or another. It's just frustrating how judgemental people can be. Guys often think their read on a woman is logical/objective, when it's not

@GrumbleSquid @Frediculous A girl came onto me aggressively early last year just seeking casual sex. I just appreciated it and we had a good time. I didn't consider her "slutty" until she was going through the list of dudes in our social group she had fucked, and even then, it was casual so no judgment.

@Frediculous Ok but like if/when I do make the signals more obvious, it's viewed negatively as slutty or being a thot or trying to manipulate or desperate The fear is any relationship that comes of it wont be as committed or serious cause your partner sees you as not a good catch or whatever

@MarxoidScissors @ZackTaylorFA @sleepy_devo I mean a recession is likely but that isn't the death of capitalism. AI is the thing capitalism is fundamentally unequipped to address in my book, not Trump unreservedly fucking with the economy through braindead tariffs. Economic cycles pale in comparison to that looming threat

hey look you marx-ball-gargler, here's a right-wing meme describing everything you're saying but from the other side you both define everybody who's "not-you" as one unified bloc and call that left/right because you're both baby-brained and unable to see nuance

@MarxoidScissors @ZackTaylorFA @sleepy_devo This has been said every year for the past fifty years by communists. LateStageCapitalism has been a popular subreddit since before I was old enough to know what Reddit is. Capitalism could be the healthiest it's ever been (it's not) and you would still say this

@MarxoidScissors @ZackTaylorFA @sleepy_devo "Furthering exploitation" is doing a lot of work here. This is a good example of why I am not communist. Capitalism has issues, which are going to become starkly apparent in ~10 years, but communists cannot represent the tradeoffs that come with destroying it
