In this video, ISIS founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi describes dispatching Abu Mohammad al-Jolani from Iraq to establish Jabhat al-Nusra as an extension of ISIS in Syria. Jolani, in turn, thanks Baghdadi for his approval, support, and funding. A suit doesn't erase that history. The United States ultimately handed Syria to a man who once led al-Qaeda's branch in the country.

❤️HER NAME IS JANA ARMSTRONG!❤️ *To support Jana’s family, please donate at gofundme.com/f/supporting-m…? 'Jana was so deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.' For days, we held our collective breathe believing and hoping 30-year-old Jana Armstrong would return home to her tiny baby boy. Jana was reported missing from Newtown, Queensland, on July 7. Some five days later, police have confirmed her body was located in bushland at Redbank Creek and that a man known to her is charged with murder (domestic violence). Jana is the 37th Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 79 women to violence - the year before 106 women were killed. From July 4 to July 7 - three days - there were four femicides. Along with Jana, we lost 13-year-old Layla Jeffery on July 4, a 17-year-old unnamed girl on July 6 and 39-year-old mum-of-two Lavanya Chappa on July 7. All killed (allegedly) by males known to them. It's been heartbreaking watching Jana's sister Faith post daily about the search for this much-loved precious woman. Her relentless search for Jana and for the truth has landed in the one place we did not want her to land. This morning she wrote on social media: "I promise you, Jana, your beautiful baby boy will always know exactly who his mummy was, how deeply you loved him and just how incredibly special you were. I will speak your name, share your stories and keep your memory alive for him every single day." JANA ARMSTRONG MATTERS!❤️ * You can help me get a Royal Commission into the Killing of Women and Girls by signing the petition using the link in my bio (Insta) or go to: change.org/FemicideRoyalC…. ❤️ABOUT THE COUNT❤️ I document all Australian women & children lost to murder, manslaughter, neglect and other unlawful acts regardless of perpetrator gender or relationship to the victim. This means not all women and children killed are lost to domestic violence. They are also killed by people known to them (ie friends) or by strangers. My work includes Australians killed overseas. Every death is documented at AustralianFemicideWatch.org/database (link in bio).

Marat Ganiev will face the Supreme Court in Melbourne on Tuesday, July 14, from 9.15am. You are welcome to take part in a peaceful gathering outside the court or to sit in the court to support Isla’s family. The peaceful protest will be at the front of the court in Williams Street. Please bring signs and wear orange for Isla. If planning to sit in the court room, you must abide by the court rules, stay respectful. Ganiev, 55, was charged with murder and then manslaughter following Isla's suspicious death on October 7, 2024. Those charges were dropped and he now charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. The court should be open, meaning public can attend. It is vital that anyone entering the court room and staying for the proceedings remains quiet and respectful throughout. Please follow the Isla Bell's Legacy social media pages on Instagram and Facebook and check out the website at islabell.com.au * You can help me get a Royal Commission into the Killing of Women and Girls by signing the petition using the link in my bio (Insta) or go to: change.org/FemicideRoyalC….

❤️HER NAME IS LAYLA JEFFERY❤️ 'Whenever she would buy anything, she would get a matching one for her best friend' Layla Jeffery is only 13. A child loved and adored, treasured and valued. Missing since July 4 in Donald, Victoria, police have just charged a 16-year-old boy with her murder. The boy is known to Layla. Layla is the 17th Australian child killed this year. A total of 27 children were killed in 2025. Layla's aunt Kaitlyn told media her niece was a very sweet and fairly shy girl. "She was very sassy when she wanted to be because she knew her own value really well," Kaitlyn said. "She was 13 going on 30." I really wanted to say to people reading this post, please do not make comments about Layla or her family that disrespect them in anyway. I've seen what people have been saying. I have read your messages. Layla was very much loved and her family and friends - indeed her entire community - deserve kindness and empathy right now. In just three days, we lost two women and two girls to femicide across Australia. A man has just been charged with killing Jana Armstrong - she is the fourth female victim of male violence in Australia between July 4 and July 7. We also lost 13-year-old Layla Jeffery on July 4, a 17-year-old unnamed girl on July 6 and 39-year-old mum-of-two Lavanya Chappa on July 7. In all cases, the accused killers are known to the victims. This is what a femicide epidemic looks like. It features men and boys killing women and girls because they can. It features failures and holes in our safety nets. It features policy-makers, media and politicians who refuse to act. We cannot change the story on male violence if we keep turning our eyes away. Please sign the petition for a Royal Commission into Femicide and if you have signed, please pass it onto others to add their signatures. * You can help me get a Royal Commission into the Killing of Women and Girls by signing the petition using the link in my bio (Insta) or go to: change.org/FemicideRoyalC…. ❤️ABOUT THE COUNT❤️ I document all Australian women & children lost to murder, manslaughter, neglect and other unlawful acts regardless of perpetrator gender or relationship to the victim. Four Australian women have been killed in four days by men known to them. This is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the families, friends, and communities grieving the loss of loved ones. Back in January I called for a Royal Commission into family and domestic violence. We cant continue to accept this level of violence against women. A Royal Commission is the most comprehensive, transparent and credible way to uncover systemic failures, identify what is and isn't working, and ensure victim-survivors are not re-traumatised by the very institutions meant to protect them. We need governments to treat family and domestic violence like the national crisis it is, and to act. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic, family or sexual violence, contact 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732). abc.net.au/news/2026-07-1…

In the photo is the deceased Dobrina Prodanovic from Ratkovici. In her hands, she holds the skull of her only son, Zivan, who as a civilian was trapped, tortured, and killed on June 21, 1992, during an attack carried out from Srebrenica by members of the so-called Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Serbian village of Ratkovici. The photograph of Dobrina mourning her dead son traveled the world, but throughout democratic Europe, it was represented as a Muslim mother mourning her son who was killed by Serbian aggressors. Dobrina died on November 17, 2019, without receiving justice for her son. She will be remembered as an eternal symbol of the suffering of the Serbian people in Podrinje. The world turned its head the other way three decades ago, refusing to see or mention Serbian victims. It does the same today as ambassadors of Western countries and colonial leaders—crowned with the title of High Representatives—talk about their pity, aggression in BiH, and a crime equal to the Holocaust. At the same time, they label the entire Serbian people with epithets that would be inferior to us even if Hitler himself had created them (and we fought against him). Those same ambassadors, high and low representatives, peace marchers with war flags and pictures of Naser Oric, various NGOs, and all those for whom Serbian victims do not exist, looked the other way on July 11, 2022. I guess if they had looked, they would have met the innocent gaze of 3,267 Serbian civilian victims, whose eternally closed eyes followed them from pictures placed by the roadside.

Israel is dropping white phosphorus on South Lebanon, deliberately burning our villages and farm lands. They have incinerated over 3,000 hectares of South Lebanon since 2023. This is a war crime in broad daylight. This is ecocide.

REMEMBERING THE BIAK MASSACRE Today, July 6, we remember one of the most violent atrocities committed by the Indonesian government on the people of West Papua. Between July 2 and July 6, 1998, hundreds of West Papuans gathered peacefully around the Biak water tower after raising the Morning Star flag when Indonesian security forces moved in to disperse the gathering with force. Survivors and witnesses have testified that civilians were shot, detained, tortured, and subjected to sexual violence. In the days that followed, bodies were reported washing ashore around Biak, while many families continued searching for missing relatives. Human rights organizations and independent investigations estimate that between 40 and more than 150 people were murdered. More than two decades later, justice for the victims of the Biak Massacre remains elusive. No one has been held accountable, and the events continue to be denied or minimized by Indonesian authorities. The atrocities that occurred in Biak also continue in the present. West Papuans who assert their independence, or speak out against militarization have continued to report arrests, intimidation, surveillance, and other forms of harassment. As we remember the victims of the Biak Massacre, we also remember the many West Papuans who continue to face violence and repression in their pursuit of self-determination. Learn more about West Papua's struggle for self-determination by visiting papua-merdeka.org
