@ThePolemikOne You’d be okay with dishonoring the image?

@helmethead__ No, because due to the incarnation, we know what Christ looked like; and He wasn't a Chinese yellow man.

A person can be a faithful servant of Christ and member of His Church without ever having personally read the Scriptures. Protestants cannot wrap their minds around this.

@DanteT1NG @needGod_net @Acts17David You tried to equate an image to the person in an egregious conflation as a defense of images veneration People aren’t images in the way icons are images Totally bogus garbage

Huge flaw at the Council of Nicaea 2. A council the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic church holds on to. @Acts17David: "And so wait a minute, I'm not supposed to show this kind of reverence to the Apostle Paul, but I'm required to do it to an image of the Apostle Paul....this is some weird stuff, man."

@DanteT1NG @needGod_net @Acts17David Nope. I’m saying that Moses’s father in law wasn’t an image crafted by hands like paintings or carvings are So your apologetic is a category error and makes no sense

@ThePolemikOne If you were in China, a man hands you an image of a Chinese yellow man, and says this is Jesus Christ, venerate His image, would you?

@helmethead__ I mean, how showing disgust towards an icon of Christ any different than showing disgust towards Christ himself? If one showed contempt for an image of Mao, it’s expressing their contempt directly towards Mao himself. It passes through the image.

@ThePolemikOne What do Byzantine portraits have to do with Christ and His Church?

@DanteT1NG @needGod_net @Acts17David Yeah they’re in the category of image crafted by human hands. Paintings statues carved images etc Was Moses father in law?

Don’t be fooled. God took flesh and He can now be depicted along with the Saints He has manifested His very Grace through. God is Glorified in his saints and works through them. Acts 19:11–12 “And God did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.”

@needGod_net @Acts17David The Council made it clear that we are not to worship them, only to give them the same reverence as we do to the cross or the holy Gospels whilst remembering what they represent. You realise that we kiss the Bible in the Catholic church. Does that mean we are committing idolatry?
