It’s always possible to raise more money to pursue a bigger goal. However, once you’ve taken money, you can’t accept many smaller but still life-changing exits. VC ratchets in one direction, and founders should be exceedingly confident before they add more pressure. /End

@abhiroopm @velocity_in True. Newer gen @ SME tech native, doesn't consider time & capital free 2 company, has alt option 2 sell assets & take white collar job, employees unlikely 2 spend a generation there, has a v upgraded competition 2 deal with. Earlier SME founder gen's experience opp on all counts

Combine this with the rise of mobile internet, online payments and a strong regulatory push towards formalisation.. and you get something UNPRECEDENTED. Super excited about the next decade for SME fintech and keen to add @velocity_in to thousands of Indian businesses! 🚀😊 3/3

The most underrated trend in the Indian SME space is the next generation taking over the business. As India’s average age touches 30, the previous generation of SMEs is increasingly taking a back seat and the next one is starting to run the show now 👴🏻🙋🏻‍♂️ 1/3

@zachweismann @naval Prblms being referred 2 maybe different. By all means fix world's resultant prblms (climate etc), while fixing the source...ie individual mind-related behaviours. Solve 4 d mind & pretty much wordly prblms gt solved. Eg. Overconsumption-climate change; greed-war

@naval Masters have struggled to move society's needle. Non-experts like most of us much rather focus on fixing our individual selves, first. And through that family, community, world.

@gokulr Interesting. A non 'top' performer to be sold at 'de-minimis' price assumes an exaggerated correlation between time spent by VC & company outcome. Also why wouldn't they have a CA/non-investment team member handle such non top performers?

The power law of venture returns is real. So much so that hearing about VCs selling back their shares to the company at a de minimis price (eg: $0.01) if they feel the co won't not be a top performer for their fund. All to free up time to focus on the companies that truly matter.

@naval 'Happiness is being satisfied with what you have. Success comes from dissatisfaction. Choose'. Incorrect. Not a choice between happy & passive. Work towards solid progress but today's happiness shouldn't depend on future acquisition.

@madhavchanchani Reliance's scaled & integrated supply chain makes it genuinely better positioned 2 deliver @ best price-speed etc. Versus cos like BigBasket tht hv 2 use expensive equity money 2 offer same things 2 customers. Is this going to end well for BB, others?

@sajithpai @waynema @JuroOsawa Ambani's no. 1 productivity hack is to make sure govt policy is mostly a tailwind & not a major productivity killer putting many other businesses in reverse gear from time to time!

When I mention a startup idea publicly, I usually try to downplay its potential. I only want to convince the people who were almost convinced already, because those are the right people to do it.

India is definitely headed higher on this chart. Can the Govt shift the narrative to the death toll now?
