@henryindy Feels like pruning a tree. You don't "lose" the branches, you just redirect the growth.

Cutting a sentence you love is the literary equivalent of throwing away tasty leftovers that are probably still good. That's why I save them in a file. 80% of the time they end up living in another chapter, or another project, but they live #WritingCommunity #AmWriting

I’ve keep thinking that writing a memoir is basically therapy with a word count, and honestly, that feels emotionally accurate.

I sat down to write for 20 minutes and somehow ended up reorganizing my digital files, two playlists, and the silverware drawer.   The writing? Oh, it's still waiting politely in the corner. Just staring at me 👀

@MLA_Matthew Ive seen a bunch of editors and agents migrate to bluesky last year. But its doesn't always seem as engaged as it is on this platform. If you keep offering that encouragement and good will, then you are doing immensely positive things for those who need it. 😊

@henryindy I think X is fine for industry advice. Not many of us on BlueSky I don’t think… Instagram is fine too. Just gotta follow the right people! I think that’s exactly what I’ll do, be positive, kind, and encouraging to querying authors… just sans the advice. :-)

Super bummed out today. I’ve made the unfortunate decision to finally take my mentor’s advice and stop posting anything publishing related to X. I’ve been told since I started agenting to not be here, but I wanted to connect with authors the way my mentor had when she started. 🧵

Conducting yourself as a professional on social media means you take your business seriously. I don't care if you haven't found much success yet in your field, you can still refrain from outbursts of inappropriate or mean emotion if your name is your business. Putting other people down to make yourself look like an expert is very transparent. And Writers: if you have worked hard for your craft, consider that a poorly written post isn't a good look for someone "auditioning" for writing opportunities by showing your skill in every post. If you think no one reads your posts, you'd be wrong. This is a reminder to me as much as anyone, BTW. #writerslife #writingcommunity
