@bkpark @____katieee The firm pays associates and administrative staff, pays for office space, supplies, malpractice insurance, employee benefits, attorney licensing fees, and the partners get paid after all that. Not saying they’re underpaid but they definitely don’t get what the client pays

@____katieee if you are talking elite level, you are probably talking partner level. then yes, they do basically get what the client pays (they own the firm).

@StreetCitizen @greggnunziata If he really meant it he should have put it in the text of the Amendment. Why do you think he didn’t?

@greggnunziata Swing and a miss, Greg. The 2nd Amendment was written explicitly to ensure citizens had the same grade of firearms as a standing army ("well-regulated militia"). The writer of the 14th Amendment Jacob Howard explicitly stated it would not apply to "foreigners or aliens."

@ToriatheistTori You could also reverse this. “So it looks like you’re a man that slept with another man” “you claimed god made a mistake and put you in the wrong body so you butchered yourself” “you supported killing unborn babies”

@Interregnor @narrenhut Not gonna happen. Firms make their money on hourly billing - disincentivizing automation, even (especially) if it’s more efficient than humans. Plus the regulatory boards that gatekeep the legal practice are made of lawyers, why would they approve tech that puts them out of work?

@henryinyc @nah_chief____ @micah_erfan I’m not a Republican, and the white lady who won was a Democrat. The candidate who got the Colbert interview was a white man. The candidate that made Colbert release on YouTube rather than give her equal time was a black lady.

@pawljl @adamscochran you still have to pay to access any of those forms of ID, which probably violates the 24th amendment

Hey stupidazz, this is in the bill. A standard photo ID (e.g., driver's license) paired with additional documents such as: A birth certificate showing U.S. birth. A REAL ID-compliant form of identification that explicitly indicates the applicant is a U.S. citizen A married woman (or anyone whose current legal name differs from the one on their birth certificate, such as due to marriage) can generally use her U.S. birth certificate as documentary proof of citizenship under the SAVE Act (or SAVE America Act, typically requires pairing it with a current photo ID (like a driver's license or state ID) in her married name, and often additional documentation to bridge the name change. or a passport!

Yes - you do use an ID to vote in Congress.. With: * A free ID paid for by the government. * That they make sure you have received. * In a voter roll you are automatically on and not purged from when eligible. * With processes to manage your vote if you forget /lose your ID. If you want mandatory voter ID, then include those kinds of provisions. Otherwise you're just trying to make voter suppression easier.
Rep. Michael Cloud@RepMichaelCloud

For reference, this is how we vote in the US House: 1) Insert photo ID 2) Press button

No, the Supremacy Clause does not mean, without qualification, that federal law trumps state or local law. The Supremacy Clause means federal law trumps state or local law on those matters in which the federal government has jurisdiction. While the federal government has power over immigration enforcement, it does not have jurisdiction to command the actions of state or local officials—to force them to enforce federal programs, carry out federal duties, or cooperate against their will. Therefore, the Supremacy Clause does not authorize or legitimize such commands. Any attempt by federal officials to command the actions of state or local officials is unconstitutional commandeering under the Tenth Amendment.
