@Tusk_4Real I had sleepovers as a kid - my kids did not. They went to friends houses and could stay until late, but then they came home.
The world is not the same place it used to be - just talk to someone that has served on a grand jury.
English

I was a kid in the 90s, and by the time I was 12 I had stayed at my friends houses hundreds of nights for sleepovers.
My friends stayed with me hundreds of nights for sleepovers.
Video games. Making home movies. Snacks. Bewshittin'.
My sons are 8 and 12 and neither of them have ever been to a sleepover. Neither of them have ever tried to get one cooking at my house.
And don't get me wrong - I do NOT want other kids at my house. But I wouldn't deny my kids the opportunity to make those memories.
Are sleepovers just not a thing anymore? What is going on?

@TonyGasparro @russellbrunson Disagree 100%. My local McD's made this change a while ago. They will reluctantly refill if you ask, but a) it takes longer and b) they act annoyed that you asked.
I have not been back since they made the change.
English

@russellbrunson Be real for a moment, this will not deter visits to McDonald's. Plus they'll refill for you if you ask them at the front counter.

@Latterdaytruth Listen more than you talk and remember that people consider you a better conversationalist the more you let them talk abou themselves.

@Latterdaytruth I'm team minivan all the way. Among other things, it prevents my kids from opening a side door into a car next to them in a parking lot.
I wish the suburban parked next to my car in the JS building parking lot in 1994 had been a minivan.

@RodRuiz14 @BruceNorth46058 We're all imperfect.
Clearly I can't help you acknowledge, accept or see a truth that you are unwilling to accept.
Good day.
English

@here4launches @BruceNorth46058 Imperfect people include fraudsters?
English

Good question.
Why would the Three and Eight Witnesses testify the Book of Mormon is translated by the gift and power of God?
Why would I believe the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the Book of Mormon?
Why would the Holy Spirit of God testify to my mind and heart it's true?
Enjoying those brief moments...@RodRuiz14
@BruceNorth46058 Instead we have to rely on the word of a fraudster. The question is why do you believe him?
English

@RodRuiz14 @BruceNorth46058 That is not what I said. We believe that except in the case of His only perfect Begotten Son, imperfect people are all God has ever had to work with...And when you see imperfection, remember that the limitation is not in the divinity of the work.
English

@here4launches @BruceNorth46058 So he is beyond criticism? You guys are unreal.
English

@RodRuiz14 @BruceNorth46058 Over 200 years ago he was told that his name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues.
Attempts to mock and disparage him do nothing more than prove he was right.
English

@BruceNorth46058 Those witness testimonies are suspect and self serving. You guys rely on this instead of looking at JS’s life dispassionately.
He was a violent fraudulent criminal serial adulterer.

@the_jake_bastow I don't believe you can go wrong by following the example of the general authorities when it comes to dress, grooming, behavior, etc.

@JakeO886 @hankrsmith @WilliamMeservy That God would allow 1/3 of all spirits to choose that path, with all it entails, is not a demonstration of cruelty. It is evidence of how greatly He respects and honors our individual agency.
English

@hankrsmith @WilliamMeservy How do you feel about a God that sent 1/3 of all spirits ever to eternal conscious torment in outer darkness for a single decision?

@conservmillen "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 7:21

I had no idea LDS members would balk at this very basic, central belief about hell, heaven, and who goes where.
Yes, all Christians believe in hell and that we deserve to go there. That’s the bad news. The good news is, through Christ, we can be saved from hell and instead spend eternity with him. This is not accomplished through ordinances, church membership, or claims of apostolic succession, but through Jesus’s sacrifice alone. The good news is that there is nothing you can or must do to earn your way into God’s Presence. Rather, Jesus’s blood is sufficient in making us clean and acceptable before God.
You are free to believe that access to eternity with Jesus can only be accomplished through following LDS ordinances, and that non-LDS members will only have a degree of glory (but not God’s presence) in the afterlife. It’s just not a Christian belief.
For a believer in Christ, there is nothing good about the news that we non-Mormons will live forever in a “better place” but without the presence of Jesus. That is not heaven. Jesus is the prize! And our place with Him is secured by grace through faith in Him. Hallelujah!

@KintsugiJin ever had to work with. That must be terribly frustrating to Him, but He deals with it. So should we. And when you see imperfection, remember that the limitation is not in the divinity of the work.
English

@KintsugiJin I like to follow the counsel of Elder Holland: "So be kind regarding human frailty—your own as well as that of those who serve with you in a Church led by volunteer, mortal men and women. Except in the case of His only perfect Begotten Son, imperfect people are all God has...

I have to ask honestly, how concerning is it if we have people serving in ward callings who haven’t been set apart for months, or even years?
Whether that’s an admin failure or a lack of priesthood follow-through, it feels like it sends the wrong message to the ward, especially to the youth and those on the edges of a faith crisis.
If setting apart matters, and we believe there is real priesthood power and promised blessing connected to it, then why are we okay letting it sit unresolved for so long?
More directly: are we living like we actually believe what we teach when we accept this as normal?
My ward is going to regret asking me to be second counselor and the ward mission leader.
Full Bushido Samurai is happening. I can't go backwards in my belief.

@AntiochiMyers @Latterdaytruth It is good news that Christ's grace and infinite atonement are sufficient to cover even the vilest of sinners.
English

@Latterdaytruth Why did Jesus warn more about hell in his earthly ministry than extol heaven, if it's virtually impossible to go there? Is it good news that murderers and child rapists will go to heaven?
English

Also, how is it better news to say some people burn in hell forever, when our theology says that 99.99% get heaven.
