Virgil Van Dijk on if the City loss was the most disappointing this season: “We’ve had a couple already this season. It’s mentally very tough at the moment, I must say.” “I’ve been there already many times this season when I’ve had hope and then we couldn’t build on performances. Today our second half, the intensity we didn’t match, the challenges we didn’t win, it was tough. To lose then 4-0 is tough.”

@DaveOCKOP The new generation of Liverpool fans sound like Man U fans now. This is not the Liverpool Way.

I personally think it is time Liverpool looked for a new manager but I also respect what Arne Slot has achieved. Personal attacks on the man as an individual is an absolute disgrace and goes against everything YNWA stands for. Yes, he has made decisions I don't agree with and at times they make me angry but so called Liverpool fans having a go at the man as a person is absolutely out of order. I think it is time he now moves on because he cannot get the best out of the team and I don't think he can regain that belief from his players. They look disinterested and lacklustre, which is also a sad indictment on the players also. But respect what Arne Slot has achieved, wish him well (if you do want him to move on) but be respectful. That's my view anyways.

Today was not on Slot btw you can argue with the wall if u want but he can't control the players like FIFA on Xbox. It was Virgil who made a clumsy challenge, it was Mo who missed a big chance & a penalty. The players have to take accountability. 2 easy to blame the manager #LFC

You don't give your shirt away, during a tie in which you have been demolished, while the game is still being played. The separation from what some players think is ok and what fans know to be insulting is becoming stratospheric.

The last hour today was horrific, but were there many Slot out shouts in the first 40 minutes? Was it Slot who couldn't put Mo and Hugo's guilt edge chances away? Was it Slot that dived in like a clumsy idiot to give the penalty away? Just saying. The players get a pass.

🚨🗣️ Thierry Henry on Virgil van Dijk’s display in the clash between Liverpool and Manchester City. “People are going to get emotional about this, but I don’t care, Virgil van Dijk is living off a reputation he built years ago. Tonight exposed it. When Manchester City turned up the intensity, he didn’t look like a leader… he looked like a liability. We keep hearing ‘world-class, world-class’ based on what? Aura? Because I didn’t see dominance, I saw hesitation. I saw a defender who doesn’t want to get exposed 1v1 anymore. The real top defenders embrace those moments, they don’t hide behind the system. And let’s be honest, if his name wasn’t Van Dijk, we’d be having a very different conversation right now. At Liverpool FC, that standard should be ruthless. But somehow, he keeps getting protected while others get blamed. For me? That performance wasn’t elite. It wasn’t even good. It was average… and average doesn’t win you big games.”

@Edwyeen His awareness should of Improved as he slowed down. It didn't, he plays for himself. Messi today would of had his head up and squared to wirtz. Even at 3 down Salah is playing for himself and his own numbers. When we are winning and he's contributing it's all good.

🚨 It’s not the best time to talk about, but it worth to be shared, Egypt legend Mohamed Aboutrika, Salah’s former teammate, idol, and close friend, confirmed that he spoke with Mohamed Salah after he announced his decision to leave Liverpool, and confirmed what we exclusively reported on @winwinallsports on March 25: Arne Slot is the reason behind Mohamed Salah’s departure. Aboutrika said: “One of the reasons behind Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool is the presence of Arne Slot, because we’ve seen issues in the recent period… You, Slot, pushed the man away. Salah only had a two-year contract with Liverpool… Salah wants to work with peace of mind and enjoy the next phase of his career. Salah doesn’t need any validation from Slot or anyone else.” All of Aboutrika’s comments on Salah’s decision can be read here. winwin.com/%D8%A7%D9%84%D…

He’s been our best player in an absolutely abysmal season, but I’m not sure Szoboszlai’s actions after the final whistle today are befitting of a future club captain? 🤔😬

Mohamed Salah’s announcement of his departure at the end of the season during the international break allowed supporters to reminisce about his incredible career. But his penalty in the second half was that of a player short on confidence. James Trafford saved his effort, Salah’s second penalty miss in as many games after failing from the spot against Galatasaray. Liverpool’s problems run much deeper than Salah’s form, but if they are to salvage anything from the rest of this season, they need their best players to perform, including one of the greatest. 📝 @adjones_journo 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/71688…

🗣️ Arne Slot on what was missing: “Things have been missing for a large parts of this season, converting chances into goals, that’s the thing that was missing in the first half… because I think it was an equal game up till the moment they scored the penalty. Last time we played here we conceded before half time, today again. Mentally not easy but we tried to pick things up at half time but 5-10 mins later they scored twice…”

@DaveOCKOP He had the right plan in the first 20 minutes, Dave. Is it his fault that the players missed those sitters (and couldn't care less about them)? The club knows he was not backed enough in key areas of transfer. Injuries also affected his options. That's why they're patient.

@DaveOCKOP At this stage of the season, every missed chances counts. And that's what happened to Liverpool in the first half. Highly unlikely we'll make a comeback. So keep playing Salah for 90 minutes and drop him for PSG.

🚨 Arne Slot on Mohamed Salah’s exit: “If he wants to share his reasons why he did it then it's up to him, but that's not up to me to speak for him. I hear a lot being said about Liverpool and one of the funny things about Liverpool is that almost everything that is out there is not true. "What I mean is I see sometimes that we are trying to sign players. I'm like, ‘what is everybody talking about? We're not even considering the player or even talking about him at all?’ I think that's a big, big compliment to the people who work here. "Even when I signed, there were a lot of other names mentioned when I already knew I already signed. So that says something about Liverpool."
