I live in a part of Georgia where 75% of my neighbors voted for Trump. Trump signs and flags were everywhere. “Were” They’ve all be replaced with American flags and signs that say things like “True Conservative” No more Trump signs. ZERO. And all the MAGA influencers that live in Florida and DC will say it’s not true, that MAGA is alive and well. They’re lying to you, probably not even intentionally. They live in a bubble and don’t see the real America around them. When’s the last time u saw a MAGA hat in the wild? You used to see them at the mall, airports, and in the street. Conservatism isn’t dead. It just needs a new leader.

Literally every single victim you talk to in Western North Carolina has a horror story about dealing with FEMA... ...and guess who they will all say actually cam through for them? Neighbors. Church groups. The Amish. The Cajun Navy. Shawn Hendricks. Samaritan's Purse. MercuryOne. The Mission Mules hauling insulin up washed-out roads, ONLY ACCESSIBLE by mules. Greg Biffle burning his own fuel in helicopters. Veterans like Adam Smith who organized helicopter rescues with other veterans BY HIMSELF and then was demonized by the media for it. Volunteers like Jake Jarvis working TO THIS DAY, 550 days later without ANY PAY AT ALL. THOSE ARE THE STORIES FROM HURRICANE HELENE WORTH TELLING. But 60 Minutes won't tell ANY OF THEM. Because the truth makes the federal government the villain and the "deplorables" are actually the heroes in this story and they can NEVER admit that. So instead they smeared the rescuers as white nationalists. This is unforgivable. I was there. I saw it with my own eyes. And I will BE DAMNED if I let CBS rewrite the history of what happened to my mountains.

I've been looking for a home in SF now for 1.5 years. The pricing changes in the past 6 months have been *disastrous* and will imminently hurt a lot of regular people. Just to be clear: this home is not worth $8.2m. The only reason it sold for this is because we have 1) almost zero supply and 2) infinite demand caused by the greatest wealth creation event in history. This is, by definition a bubble -- a bubble economy for an asset people get 30 year mortgages to pay off. For the OpenAI/Anthropic folks with $100 million, the bubble popping won't hurt them much. But this is causing a pricing effect on the whole market, and it's going to hurt a lot of normal people 1) when it pops or 2) in the next earthquake.
