I drew some of the species I work with for NEARMI! Wood frog, Eastern newt, Spotted salamander, Shenandoah salamander and the red-backed salamander (w/ lead-backed morph, too)! @USGSWetlands @USGS Screen printing this on shirts for the field crew to rep during field season🦎🐸

Really weird to me how many people in North America think starting a honey bee hive helps the environment.

one of my favorite parts about winter time is all of the silly little wildlife tracks in the snow ❄️ 🦝🦃

@AmbystoMax real talk !!! this is why some of the best & realest conversations I have are on walks/hikes or car rides where we are both looking forward or like doing an activity like crafts where we’re using our hands and not expected to just stare into each others eyes the whole time lmao

I’m currently working as a science TA for 7-8 graders and they are so funny — they make me laugh every day! this week when asked what an agar plate was one of them said something about “a place where stinkies grow” which is honestly so true 🧫 couldn’t have said it better myself

@AmbystoMax OH & get this — even after getting a doctors note, other associates (not even managers!) keep mentioning how I can’t have a water bottle and it irks me so badly. it’s not their place & it’s none of their business about my medical note. it made me mad enough to rant on twitter lol

@AmbystoMax that’s exactly what my doctor said!!! sadly I had to get a retail job for the Winter because there’s slim-pickings/competitive for natural resource jobs in my area. Thankfully I’ll be outta there in 11 days & have interviews coming up!! Hoping to get back in the field come Spring

When #yards include nature, it's a win-win solution for both people and biodiversity. We reviewed ecological/social benefits of yard restoration & show the footprint of US residential area goes beyond urban areas--much higher than previous estimates (30%) academic.oup.com/bioscience/adv…

One of my favorite parts of being an amphibian scientist is introducing people to the critters I work with, I was lucky enough to be able to show my kiddo friend his very first salamanders! We scored 2 juvenile spotted sals and a leadback! #happyherping

I equate achieving full confidence in tadpole ID with reaching nirvana. Would any enlightened ones out there care to help me ID these sent to me by a partner? Taken in Eastern MA last week. Please and thank you!!!!

Pollinator Habitat in Log Landings (PHiLL) Project
Happy pollinator week from the PHiLL project! A reminder to do what you can to support wild pollinators this week (and every week). Plant native plants, share an INaturalist photo, mow your lawn less, avoid pesticides and leave your garden wild!
