The day news of General Sani Abacha’s death broke, the entire country jubilated. Beyond his death in 1998, 🇳🇬 emerged from its dystopian era. The fear of mentioning his name in an Elelenwo beer parlor in port harcourt was a conscious feeling. Do your politics, but be sincere.🙏🏾

How good are Rafael Leão and Kenan Yıldız on the left wing. And more importantly… what are we actually measuring when we judge a winger! Is it Premier League proven? Is it raw numbers. Or is it profile, impact, and what a player actually brings to a team? Because if we’re being honest, the PL-proven argument feels lazy. Some of the best players in the world didn’t need England to validate their quality. Now look at the profiles: Rafael Leão Explosive. Direct. A constant outlet. He stretches defenses vertically, destroys full-backs in isolation, and creates panic every time he receives the ball in space. He’s not just a winger he’s a transition weapon. Give him space, and he turns games in seconds. Carrying, chance creation, unpredictability that’s elite. Kenan Yıldız Different profile. Same level of intrigue. More technical. More composed. Operates between the lines. He’s the kind of winger who drifts inside, links play, combines, and adds creativity in tight spaces. Think control, intelligence, and final-third craft not just pace. So the real question is Do you want chaos and vertical threat? Leão Or control, intelligence, and connection play? Yıldız Because both profiles are valuable but they solve different problems. And this is where I struggle with some of the other names being thrown around. Are we signing players because of hype and numbers… Or because they actually raise the level of the team? If I’m being honest, I’m not convinced by Ndiaye in that role at the highest level. And when it comes to players like Yan Diomande, the output doesn’t justify the noise especially when you factor in the price. That starts to look like a gamble, not a solution. At some point, we have to move beyond surface level analysis. What does the player do? What problems do they solve? And do they actually take your attack to the next level? Because for me, Leão and Yıldız They answer those questions clearly
