It's probably fine. So long as you and your wife's relationship is good. It wasn't until I was 12-13 that I realized the reason dad wasn't always around is because he was working hard to provide for us. Your son probably isn't old enough to understand or respect that. Give him a few days, and he'll forget he ever "hated" you.

My son told my wife today that he doesn’t love me because I don’t spend as much time with him as she does. I’m the sole income earner in our family of four and try to never work between 5pm and his bed time, and walk him to school every morning. What’s even the point of working this hard if your kids don’t even like you.

@Awwwchallllll Good fashioned pen and paper notes, when reading something more academic or info heavy. Summarize (handwritten is preferable) chapters in your own words after reading, your brain holds onto stuff you came up with better.

People who read a lot of books how do you actually retain what you read?
I try reading but after 2–3 books, I forget most of it… even powerful lines fade. Like, how do you keep those insights with you and actually apply them later?

I would say just strive to maximize input everyday. YouTube videos, music, drama series, practice dialogues, reading books all in your target language. Pimselur is good if your starting your language learning journey, and Anki is good for making flashcards to help refresh your vocab every now and then.

@Nebazanas He seems fairly competent. Obviously a bit of an authoritarian strongman as well. Most of my Russian friends who live in Russia seem to support him or be just neutral about him.
