Houston is $174 million in the red—the largest deficit in city history. I warned the mayor a year ago about the exact issues that got us here. He ignored realities then and still won’t admit the truth today. We owe Houston residents honesty and transparency.

Downtown Houston clears out by 6pm. Every night, like clockwork. It’s not that people don’t want to be here — it’s that there’s not enough resy and half the ground floors are either locked lobbies or loading docks. HPD is leaving this building soon. And before the city hands it to someone who turns it into another structured parking deck, it’s worth asking what this block actually needs. People living here would be a start. The building is solid. The location is central. The sidewalk is right there waiting.

@obeze_abba How do you know this? Seems quite an assumption to make. You see the social media posts that people share of the books they are reading, the quotes they are sharing. You don’t see the hours spent quietly reading alone, day after day, in between those social media posts.

I’ve realized that many people don’t actually love reading books. They love the identity of being someone who reads books. The aesthetic of it. The photos. The intellectual vibe. But the quiet discipline of reading slowly and thinking deeply? That part is very unpopular.

@c0mmunicants I don't know, I like it. Looks like it's sourced from a 1960s Japanese re-release poster. I notice MoC founder and the label's original art guy, Nick Wrigley is credited on this release. Don't remember seeing that for years now.

The new @hammerfilms Blu-Ray of Cry of the Banshee was solicited as All Region and was listed as all region on the hammer website until I brought it to their attention that it was indeed Region B. After several email exchanges, this was their response.

@funkentechno @Oneohtrixxx Yeah, I remember that. Also, to think about where we were with Shaw Bros films about 4 or 5 years ago compared to where we are now is mind boggling. So many of those films being released that it’s not even possible to keep up!

The HK action collection is steadily growing. I feel like we're in a golden age of physical media with all these great restorations lately

@BayouBikeyBoi Well, sure. And this is what firefighters did in Houston, for years…until finally getting a contract and pay raise, through Whitmire, that at least gets us moving in the right direction. This is why it’s so frustrating to see comments like yours about him “rolling over”.

@heygetrhythm That’s kinda how it is in the private sector without a union, you gotta know what your labor is worth in the open market and you gotta advocate for yourself with your company to make sure they’re paying what you’re worth or you leave

I’m curious what results he’s actually gotten because I can’t really think of much? He rolled over on negotiations with the fire fighters and police unions, he’s derailed a bunch of projects with the mobility principles, he commissioned the EY study but hasn’t made reforms

@realJackEason I just know which some of Arrows other 4Ks they've been using extremely muted colors for some weird reason. Like the samples I saw of Lady Snowblood were baffling. Why the fuck did they make it look like that?

If I didn't know Arrow are going to release a better version, and jump in on this without hesitation.
