@Ihartitz Puka was a top 20 guy and he plays more TE than many of the TE that can’t block. Rams scammed everyone but Seattle with all of the “tight end” looks.

Luther Burden was on a collision course with being the No. 1 overall WR taken in last year's draft, ahead of Tetairoa, Egbuka, Travis Hunter, Golden, et al. He ran roughshod over the competition in 2023 with a garbage quarterback to the tune of 86/1,212/9 in that sophomore season. He couldn't do anything but watch his numbers tank when Brady Cook (UDFA, 0-4 as the 3rd QB of the Jets last season) came back to earth. Cook threw for 11(!) touchdowns in a full season as a fifth-year senior, to go with a paltry 62% completion. Long story even longer, Luther Burden III suffered through it, and still put up 700 all-purpose yards and eight scores, but people assumed it was a regression of his own. Watch the tape. He's still the same guy, and when it's all said and done, the Bears got the WR steal of last year's draft, even though he's represented by second-round capital. Jaylen Waddle is a great player. Burden, at three inches taller and 15-plus pounds heavier, has a speed difference of around 0.05. Player comps never tell the whole story unless the film jumps off the screen. Burden refined his route-running at Mizzou, and it's clear when you watch him away from the ball. In 2025, he was the third option (occasionally second, sometimes fourth) in an offense that just let DJ Moore take a hike. The ceiling in question, from a talent standpoint, will eventually fall on Touchdown Luther's side, not Jaylen's. Bookmark it. Come holler at me later. Thanks for coming to my Sam talk.

Some are saying it’s time to get OUT of the Luther Burden III business ❌ Do you agree?

-- Name that prospect -- - Movement toolbox & Movement economy - Economical mover with an ideal combination of fluidity & abruptness to be an every-down rusher if he recieves the opportunity. Regularly surprises defenders with the oscillation of tempo through his cuts & ability to change speeds easily. Has some fun moments as a mover where he varies stride length to manipulate a downhill defender - tough to deal with him in both open & condensed areas. Wins singular engagements regularly against backers & displays the lateral skillset needed to beat defensive backs at a high clip. Not an overly dramatic mover in terms of tools - his marriage of acceleration & economy drives his game. - Skillset as a receiver - Above-average skillset as a receiving option. Shows the tempo needed to run the angle/option elements of the RB tree & can snare off-target passes with sound technique. His capabilities as a screen receiver are the most noteworthy capability when talking about how he contributes as a pass catcher. Weaves through alleys to create explosives in the screen game with great awareness for upfield blocking angles. - Anticipatory qualities & Field IQ - Excellent feel for what defenders are giving him combined with what is being blocked. Shows advanced manipulative tactics in gap & in space. High field IQ & instincts - rarely makes movement based mistakes. Played behind a porous offensive line with middle of the road Quarterback play - definitely feel that his system/line held him back from much greater performances. - Play Speed - Upper shelf accelerator with above-average capabilities at high speeds. About as well-rounded as you can get during acceleration. Can easily get by linebackers in a curvilinear fashion up the boundary & outrace a Safety that drops down into the box. An explosive play waiting to happen with sound blocking. Offers significant upside as a kick returner as well - field IQ & play speed are high-end enough for this to be a long-term role. - Through contact skillset & balance post-contact - Better than you would think for a back of his stature. Can work through wraps, shrug off glances and take on direct contact while not altering his forward momentum. His frame can show up - he’ll be overpowered at times by backers, but is generally difficult to tackle for any defender with how well he combines his acceleration with sound pad level. Above requisite during in-direct contact - bounces around when not wrapped up & can push piles. - Non-linear athletic qualities - Spins, changes pace, and can re-accelerate when in awkward positions. Extremely quick & decisive mover who shows advanced creative elements. Can chain lateral to linear fluidly - does not decelerate during cuts. - Down to down dependability - Can carry the load for an offense down to down. Trust his between-the-ears traits to keep an offense on schedule. The biggest issue will be the fumbles - 9 in the past two seasons. That number could cause a slide in the NFL draft. Has to keep the ball tighter to his frame & protect during hard contact. Can try to deflect off of defenders for additional yardage & can lead to ball security issues. There are times when tackles & ends strip him from behind when he is focused on the upfield defender. - Success in short areas - The best low red zone player in this 2026 cycle. Plays big in small spaces & is decisive in goal-to-go situations. Appreciate his toughness & relentless motor when scoring opportunities arise.

@schadjoe They clearly don’t care if anyone is watching. Look at the bullshit between games of the final four. Studio shows for entire tournament. Games running well last 2.5 hours. Actual game coverage is fine. Everything sucks raw eggs. I mean all of it. Raw. Eggs.

There’s no consensus on what makes a “good” @RecepPerception profile right now. I have seen a lot of WR’s with terrible success-rates vs Man Coverage being touted as having “good” @RecepPerception profiles – because they have good success-rates vs Zone. This framing has primarily been because NFL teams “play more Zone than Man.” While that narrative may be true – I’d like to push back on it, especially in regards to bigger-bodied WR’s. Just look back at some of the bigger-bodied WR’s who struggled vs Man (& Press) in recent draft classes. This is how @RecepPerception charted them as collegiate prospects: Keon Coleman - 20th percentile success-rate vs Man - 59th percentile success-rate vs Zone - 8th percentile success-rate vs Press Jayden Higgins - 15th percentile success-rate vs Man - 46th percentile success-rate vs Zone - 16th percentile success-rate vs Press Surely you’d feel good about having drafted these big-bodied WR’s who were bad against Man but better vs Zone? “The NFL plays more Zone,” no? There have been some hits in this category (Rashee Rice, Juju Smith-Schuster) but generally speaking – @RecepPerception has noted those hits have been rare & has labeled WR’s who fall below 35th percentile vs Man & Press as falling into a “red flag bucket” where the few success-stories have almost exclusively been WR’s who transitioned to “big-slot” roles due to their inability to win outside. I am on the side of fading these players – not excusing them “because the NFL plays more Zone.” Especially if that big-bodied WR lacks the YAC-ability needed to project a switch to a “big-slot” role at the NFL level. If you’re looking for specific WR’s that applies to in this class: Elijah Sarratt - 17th percentile success-rate vs Man - 81st percentile success-rate vs Zone - 14th percentile success-rate vs Press Malachi Fields - 24th percentile success-rate vs Man - 63rd percentile success-rate vs Zone - 25th percentile success-rate vs Press Both fall into the “red flag bucket.” Neither has the YAC-ability needed to project a switch to a “big-slot” role. These players will be FADES for me in 2026.

@lukesawhook They are the only team without a bigger WR need than RB need between the Jets (2) and Bengals (10). Money isn’t an issue. I’m sure AZ can get out of the Conner deal w/out much pain. The other 2 backs near minimum. Adding an explosive RB might be fun too.

economics dictate prices. oil companies & refiners are price takers, not makers. implementing laws like cap+trade, special blends of gasoline, + high taxes have impacts. at the end of the day laws that stop allowing refineries to operate as business dictates drives gas prices up
CBS Sacramento@CBSSacramento

For years, California leaders accused oil companies of price gouging at the pump, but a state investigation found no evidence of that. Instead, a CBS News California investigation found what's really driving the highest gas prices in the U.S. cbsloc.al/3PPOHwW

clear as day when watching the Eagles passing game from Steichen to Brian Johnson to Kellen Moore to Kevin Patullo the good coaches were able to push Jalen Hurts into uncomfortable throws/areas of the field, and work around his preferences - while the others could not, and everything became stale, predictable and lifeless

@JakobSanderson And it still takes the bigger guys playing traditional TE roles a couple of years to get up to speed. Guys like Strange and Barner are excellent “real” TE that also contribute in the pass game. The pass game role took longer to fill in though.

@JakobSanderson What if TEs started producing early because they are really just big WR and we call them TE? Many guys the same size as Chase Claypool (6’3 235-240). Maybe the shift to TE is more a shift to big WR that we call TE, but rarely line up in the TE position?

The real answer depends on your roster. But there is a wrinkle. Contender? Pickens produces now. 93-1429-9 in 2025. Elite offense. But his own team will not sign him long term yet. That hesitation means something. Rebuild? McMillan is the easier hold. Age 23. Offensive Rookie of the Year. Bryce Young ascending. Locked in. No drama. Pickens is the better asset today. McMillan is the cleaner dynasty bet.

Jordyn Tyson - Lack of combativeness & physicality The most frustrating element of Tyson's tape is the lack of combative nature that shows up winning the ball, in-route & after the catch. Head scratching at times because of how athletic he is as a leaper combined with the great tempo throttle has at the top of his routes. Goes down easily as a ball carrier on first contact & doesn't fight or find solutions for hidden yardage the way a true number one receiver at the next level should. Can have significant trouble when defensive backs take away air space at the catch point - the Utah game is a great encapsulation of how he can struggle with consistent down to down physicality. I have an early first round grade on Tyson & marked as a high value prospect that can be a cornerstone player for an offensive system, however he has questions & warts surrounding him that you don't have with Love, Lemon, Tate, and Mendoza.

Workshopping a new take that corners are basically the running backs of defense. In a vacuum, sure it's awesome to have an elite guy. But so much of their success is so dependent on what the other 10 guys are doing that I see them more as finishing pieces than the foundation.
