It looks really bad right now. But…
2015: the Mets lost 7 straight and scored 9 total runs.
2018: 11-1 start and Mickey Callaway was the second coming of Gil Hodges.
2024: 11 games under on May 29.
2025: the best team in MLB in mid June.

@GKostern @GoodFundies Generally agree about it being way too early to judge. (I am a huge Stearns supporter and believer btw and I think he's the best in the biz). But Brian's point stands that in the past 2 off-seasons, his moves don't appear to be supported by analytics. I guess we'll see. LGM.

@GoodFundies If we’re going to roast Stearns on all the bad moves, we need to give him credit on positive ones. Small sample size but Jett is hitting .173 at AAA and Sproat has been horrid to start this season. As has Pete so maybe let’s not overreact to 16 games of the season

The 2026 Mets are still ok, and will compete for the NL East. But we have MLB's #1 payroll & have traded away a lot of talent for this roster. David Stearns has been an absolute disaster.
- Bichette cost a comp pick & intl. pool $ and $42M, plus he gets $5M if he opts out.
