She reflects on the collaborative nature of the work, describing moments of intense idea-sharing and how, in those moments, mathematics can feel like connecting with something greater.

In the Chinese context, this sentence should be translated as:The world preaches me to be calm and peaceful, yet I insist on living a blazing, scorching hot life.

A family will raise their daughter with zero concept of personal boundaries, privacy, or self-ownership — no part of her inner or outer world left just to herself, her “no” ignored, her space constantly accessed — and then suddenly expect her to exercise self-worth and firm sexual boundaries with men. Like, surprise. We actually have to teach and model these things for our children, or at least not actively erode them… that your body is yours, your inner world is yours, your discomfort matters, and your “no” will be respected. You can’t train someone to override themselves for years and then expect a clear, embodied “no” to emerge out of the blue one day.

sorry for harping on this but the problem of “knowing what you want to say but not how to say it” often means you haven’t yet figured out what you want to say. if you turn to an LLM to help organize loose thoughts into prose, you’re outsourcing your cognition to a machine

I’m really passionate about having fun. I think hard work is mostly fulfilling as an path to more rareified forms of fun. like, it’s motivating to think that I don’t even *know* how much fun I could be having yet

People don’t want to be losers anymore and in return they end up actually becoming super losers because they can’t swallow their pride and admit that failure is part of the plot! AHHHH
