The “most fucked up movie I’ve ever watched in a theater” is still Kim Ki-duk’s MOEBIUS, a film where a father teaches his castrated son (whose mom cut off his dick & ate it) how to masturbate with a rock. It was at AFI Fest and there were walkouts.

The greed is insane. Apple is worth nearly $4 trillion but can't tolerate a single store with unionized workers because they're so against workers getting what they deserve.

Apple is closing down the first of its US stores to unionize. Apple says that because of the collective bargaining agreement with these workers, they "couldn’t offer to transfer them to nearby locations.” The union is outraged, and exploring options to hold Apple accountable.

I just checked and it seems that in the last 10 years, since 2016, only 4 Latin American films (all from Brazil) have played in the main competition: AQUARIUS, BACURAU, MOTEL DESTINO, THE SECRET AGENT.
Only 4 films from the entire region in a decade 😦

The Cannes Film Festival’s Main Competition is stacked, but damn, not a single Latin American title. In Un Certain Regard there are 2 films: FOREVER YOUR MATERNAL ANIMAL from Costa Rica & THE MELTDOWN from Chile. Both by women directors: Valentina Maurel 🇨🇷 Manuela Martelli 🇨🇱

I really love the AMC app but something I really miss about movies is the ticket booth. Like you go to the Burbank AMC and it’s just this empty husk sitting at the base of the stairs.

@erichcannon I was having lunch outside at the Arclight’s cafe and I saw Philip Seymour Hoffman outside hanging out with some friends smoking. It was a couple weeks after CAPOTE had come out and I was completely star struck. That place was magical

I saw Frank Darabont having lunch outside the Arclight about two weeks before it closed and it’s a core memory for me and why it should be OPEN. The LA Film School literally across the street educating young filmmaker minds. Embarrassing for “Hollywood”!!

The closure of the Cinerama Dome and Arclight Hollywood, for six years now, still feels like an open wound for me. I genuinely spent more time in those cinemas than anywhere else in L.A. and it remains very sad that this moviegoing mecca can't come back. I still hold out hope.
