So social emotional learning is twirling in its new tutu across Utah in the form of The Dignity Index, which scores schoolkids & adults on the “correctness” of their speech A short 🧵 on how *conservative* Utah is ground zero for making Chinese-Marxist speech policing go viral

Where are the Republican Board members with constituents in Salt Lake County ? Have they said anything in your defense? You would think they would want the Party to advance, not torpedo, a Republican candidate. That is, unless they're just fine with the status quo of elevating radical queer voices like Democrat Sarah Reale's.

Bryan Schott of @utahpoliticssaid said: “… It is a strange story, people have been talking about @phil_lyman in the chat, but it is a really, really strange story about Michel Clara, who is running for @UTBoardofEd was running for State School Board – District 5. He won the @UtahGOP nomination to run against Democratic incumbent @votereale But he dropped out of the race last week, he withdrew because he claimed that the @SLCountyGOP was kneecapping him …” 🔍 Here is some context, a backdrop (of sorts) to some of the conclusions reached by Schott based on a phone conversation he had with @SLCountyGOP Chairman @MikeCarey4CC ➡️ My access to GOP information was restricted i.e. the candidate portal and the @SLCountyGOP Facebook page. ⬇️ I sent an email to the SLCO GOP Party leadership informing them that if my access was not restored within the next 24 hours, I will withdraw my candidacy as the @UtahGOP Nominee for @UTBoardofEd District 5 (Chairman Carey posted the full email thread on social media). 🔁 I received a quick response from the @SLCountyGOP Secretary, informing me that my access to the candidate portal had been restored. 🔃 I then received three separate emails from Chairman @MikeCarey4CC informing me: 📩 (2:45 p.m.): “… your account has been blocked from interacting with the page due to your repeated activity that violates … the @SLCountyGOP Standards of Conduct, as outlined in our Bylaws, which states the following: Section 7. Standards of Conduct …” 📩 (3:15 p.m.): “You spend more time trolling the @SLCountyGOP FB page … with half truths and slanderous claims … you shouldn’t be surprised by the removal, or a referral to the Ethics Committee … it’s a shame that you’ve chosen to spend your time attacking me …”. 📩 (following day) “Michael … we blocked you from the @SLCountyGOP FB page for bashing the party and party leadership … in clear violation of the Standards of Conduct outlined in our bylaws … you had trouble logging in and the party secretary sent you the correct link (it worked) …” ❌ Other areas of social media @MikeCarey4CC posted: 📺 “…we blocked him on our FB page because he chooses to troll the party and me personally on a regular basis with half truths and lies … don’t undermine the party and then whine about being blocked …” 📺 “I blocked him from the party Facebook page last night for multiple violations … Frankly, it should have been done long ago.”. 📺 “…he got blocked from our FB for being an ass and couldn’t log into his candidate account which was fixed with a password reset …” 📺 “Michael was doing solid work on the signature gathering issues in 2024. Not my fault or problem that he went off the rails, started attacking the very people who could help his campaign, and literally made stuff up” 🐘 As I outlined in my previous posting, the power to investigate such allegations rest with the Ethics Committee who receives the accuser's complaint, then investigates the allegations (reviewing evidence and witnesses etc) and then issues a recommendation to the Executive Committee who then deliberates on the matter and issues corrective action in the form of admonishment, censure (blocking access), ejection etc… 🐝 In other words, the @SLCountyGOP Chairman does not have the power or authority to be the accuser, investigator, jury and judge just because he believes violations of the GOP Standards of Conduct occurred. 🧵 (1/2)

@RepubliKate Ugh agree to disagree, 5400 is Death Alley, there have been a lot of car accidents there, the flexlane system is not intuitive because it is not consistent. It can be really disorienting for newer drivers to that area.

5400 So has a flex lane system that flips for rush hour: 4 lanes eastbound in the morning, 4 westbound in the evening. Overhead signs w/green arrows & ❌’s keep drivers safe. Great example of government doing something right. I support smart solutions like this in our county.

Being a Black woman elected in Utah means that Republicans and Democrats alike believe they don't have to hear me speak. In fact, my opinion and expertise is dismissed and stereotyped as angry.

@Vikingvictims The Party is imploding. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion it just is fascinating to see the party captured by really bad stakeholder politics.

@GG2025395451 @disagreebutter @ElectBlakeMoore We have Ballard experiences. And Lisonbee experiences too. Whoever wins this race it's going to be the establishment's candidate, that's the only guarantee. No one with a broom and bottle of Windex will be allowed to get elected.

If he’s the nominee, I’ll vote for the Democrat It’s better to have a Democrat than a fake Republican because it’s easier to fight someone who is a Democrat The fake Republican will use the R next to their name to undermine the Republican Party and our platform and half the party will go along with it even though they would fight the exact same policy promoted by someone with a D next to their name It’s what @GovCox and his surrogates have been doing in Utah for years. Hopefully we will pick someone better than this insider trading scumbag, but if he’s the nominee, I’m out

So I'm looking at the Utah legislature races this year... and guys, I'm sorry, but we don't need more people in the senate that will sell the state to blue state tech bros. @danmccay needs to be reelected in District 18. I know we've clashed in the past, but he's a decent man and I'd rather have someone who actually cares about Utahns in the senate than someone who only cares about out-of-state millionaires and their cheap foreign labor. So for whatever it's worth, I endorse Dan McCay in that race. It might not make me super popular with some people, but I'd rather people be mad at me for a few days than see Doug Fiefia become a state senator. That is all.

@officeperx @kevinolearytv There are ulterior motives behind the data centers. It's like C° v ! "D". Create the crisis, profit. Ocean doesn't force a crisis. Plus people with ocean front properties don't want noise or light pollution, they matter more than the hicks in the desert. Many reasons.

@kevinolearytv Honest question because I live in Utah, and I’m extremely concerned about water usage. Because we don’t have any. Why don’t businesses build data centers next to the ocean and use the water from the ocean?

Who would want us to stop building our electrical grid? Who would wanna stop us from having compute capacity to develop AI? Which adversary would want that? There's only one. It's China. We noticed an immediate spike in misinformation on two platforms, Instagram and X, formerly Twitter. Why is this happening across America? Why every time we announce national defense in terms of giving us compute power do we get pounded by all of these IP addresses? So these are proxies for the Chinese government is my argument. They're just spreading falsehoods. This is the CCP at work here. There's no question about it.

@highergroundUT From what I understand, if commercial, they might pay at first, but laws protect private business from reporting actual property values. I’m seeing properties where their values did not increase during COVID.

Some people do not see how Envision Utah pushed false data, which legislators used to justify funneling mass amounts of taxpayer funds and incentives to overdevelop apartments. In the name of solving a crisis. They’re still building stack and packs and the ones that are finished have low occupancy levels. We are funding empty apartments, and housing prices are still insane. Many of these board members either don’t understand or they benefit (developers, getting commission, lobbyists, etc). This is who will fight to keep control. wfrc.utah.gov/committees/reg…

I think the real issue here is national security. The #Chinese government would like nothing more than to shut down our compute capacity while they build up theirs. They can’t use #TikTok to influence anymore so they are using other platforms through proxies.

The majority of the council members in Maui are actually REPUBLICANS. I am the ONLY democrat council member! Why don’t you mention the two republicans here who aren’t going to be re-elected and are wasting taxpayer dollars. We all know you’re mad you lost and you’re only relevant when you come to my page.
Rachelle Morris@rachelle_morris

Speaking of lining pockets, this is the council member who is currently trying to triple the taxpayer funded salaries for SLCo Council. And fun fact, she’s currently in Maui on a taxpayer funded trip.
