@iamExpel Every time I reinstall League (return from hiatus) my first 1-3 matches have nice people typing sweet things in chat, trying to coordinate with me. I reciprocate. Fourth match and onwards is hypertoxic nonsense. Consistent across 9 accounts and 3 regions. EOMM is cancer.

Call of Duty's "Skill Based" and "Engagement Optimized Matchmaking" systems only work when people don't know they exist. People are finally starting to understand the extent that the current system manipulates them, and I firmly believe this is part of the reason we're seeing so many people leave right now. Yeah, there's a ton of problems across the board - especially not having an anti-cheat, but knowing the game itself is trying to force an outcome for the players defeats the purpose of playing entirely. I think we're only a few years away from even the casual players realizing things like this and turning to other games, leading to an even larger drop-off in the player base than we're already seeing. Players don't want to be manipulated, and definitely not point blank lied to. The time is coming where Activision is forced to understand that.

@NilesSankey I agree. But I can also read between the lines- the middle ground between these two takes is that if you want to hate on something, have a purpose behind it. Otherwise you're setting everything on fire for no productive reason.

@Elolesio_ Kernel anti cheat was just a ploy. I stopped playing the day the Riot Client told me to install Vanguard. Vanguard defenders are either misguided, or malicious. Helldivers 2 is a perfect example of why Kernel level anti cheat is a joke. It does nothing- just costs performance.

Talked to a booster I met on eune. He had no idea that Riot is doing anything against smurfs, since he regularly boosts accs to masta and never had a single issue with vanguard. Kinda opened my eyes to how Riot is only fixing smurfing on twitter, but nothing ingame.
