@JeffWaddilove Tbh i say good riddance to all of them especially che & dembele, & good luck to dra. Only dra & tyrin can truly hold their heads high from a season where the team won less than 20 games & lucked out into the nit. We want guys who want to be apart of the solution not the problem.

@BParry19 @vmfiscus24 100% to both points. Both of them should be obligated to stay this year and their nil should be reduced imo.

lol another one that stole NIL funds. This is the shit that makes the current format unsustainable for mid-majors. Basically just threw money into a fire with him and Che only to see them run to the portal after giving nothing to UNLV.
Adam Zagoria@AdamZagoria

6-foot-8 UNLV Jr. F Ladji Dembele @ladji_kalilou is in the portal, he tells me. Averaged 5.2 ppg and 4.2 rpg in 5 games and then got a medical redshirt

@jasonkredline So now unlv in an already shaky financial position paid a guy several thousand $ to not play a single second & then dip, leaving us with a massive wasted investment. At the very least the mwc/ncaa should compensate us. That, or the player returns most of nil, should be a rule.

@hiitseli He signed a contract with the “school” He broke his foot twice. It sucks, but if we didn’t pay athletes when they get hurt through no fault of their own, we’d be in a place we don’t wanna be. It is what it is, sucky aspect of the industry, not really anyone’s fault.

Really bummed we never got to see Myles play for the Rebels. Really loved that signing when we made it last year. Point Guard position will be a question mark next season. Myles Che to the transfer portal.
Myles Che@che_myles

@SportsGzy - We would like to announce that UNLV guard Myles Che @mylesche will enter the transfer portal. Myles Che is a 6'3, 195lbs guard from Walnut, California.

Re-recruitment has become one of the biggest parts of roster building in modern college basketball. When NIL rules the roost, it means everyone is a free agent. Right now Pastner is evaluating everyone in the building and deciding exactly who he's targeting (and fundraising for) to come back for next year. And just because he wants certain players back, doesn't mean it will happen. Jones and DGL are the obvious priorities along with Myles Che IMO. Those 3 would give him a rock solid nucleus heading into next season if he's able to retain them. After that, picking and choosing can become a little more selective. Williamson to me is a no brainer. He has to be a priority to come back. After that Ladji and Bannarbie should definitely be in the fold. Williamson had some tremendous games and he is only going to get better and more consistent. Bannarbie was massively improved and Dembele was the best defensive player on a B10 team that was defense first. I also really like Mason Abbitan as well. I don't think he should have been redshirted in the first place. He's a rock solid shooter and he has good vision also. He can jump out of the gym too. Guys like Naas and Eman aren't locks as far as I'm concerned. Naas spent huge swaths of the season in the dog house for whatever reason. I just can't see him coming back. As for Stephen, he was relegated to the bench late in the season on a team that desperately needed size and rebounding. Maybe he was banged up, idk. It felt like to me he fell out of favor and I don't know if he'll be asked back because of that. Who would u bring back given the chance, Rebel fans?

@jasonkredline Not convinced hes the guy and i think no matter the financial situation if year 2 goes south unlv needs to cut their losses. Goal has to be keep dgl, tyrin, che and williamson, semifinals mwt and 20 wins minimum.

Grading Josh Pastners First season: C- It's remarkable how much this season felt exactly like (maybe even a little worse) every single Kevin Kruger season If we could go back in time, I prolly woulda just given Kruger a 5th year. I gave Dan Mullen a grade after his first season at the helm as our Football coach (it was a B- or B+, can't remember), so I think it's fitting that I do the same for Coach Pastner. It's not a failing grade, of course, and there are many reasons why the Rebels might have run into some issues. Certainly, injuries were a MASSIVE problem, but by conference play, this team was who they were gonna be, and injuries were no excuse for the three quad 4 losses we took in the non-conference. In this era of College Basketball, you know basically immediately if a Coach is the right guy for the program. In year 1, year 2 at the latest, it's pretty obvious. Teams have new rosters nearly every year, and the 3-4 year build of a program is a FARCE in the modern era. UNLV's other two rumored leaders to be our HC last offseason, Bryan Hodgson and Eric Olen, take a look at how New Mexico and USF did this season. I dont think the program has the appetite to fire another Coach in the near future, so I imagine Josh gets a pretty long leash here, but the program is so stuck in the mud right now. Josh did some things well, certainly, his energy was fun, but 1. His lineup decisions were bizarre, and it wasn't until the last 3 weeks of the season that he finally figured out which dudes could and couldn't play, and even still, he made questionable lineup decisions. 2. His guys never figured out how to play together on defense. He tried so many different types of things on that end of the floor, but there was a lack of communication and discipline all year on that end of the floor. I thought Josh 3. an awful lack of discipline overall. This team fouled at a level I didn't even believe possible, and too many of the fouls were called 50+ feet from the basket. 4. Shot selection was an issue for most of the year, as was ball movement. The rebels couldn't get defenses to move, and had a tough time punishing defenses with decisive plays. 5. Inability to get the most out of Kimani, who is SUPREMLEY TALENTED and clearly wanted to be the guy we had hoped he could be, but never quite got there. Its not like Josh didnt try. I thought Josh was sort of erratic in his decision-making all year, and I think that bled down to the players. It seemed like he was just constantly throwing stuff at the wall and trying to see what stuck, instead of bringing an approach, a standard/style, and having his players play that style. I feel like he tries to mold his style to the players he has, and I just don't like that coaching approach. He should be molding the players to HIS STYLE. There were good things too. He empowered DGL and Tyrin to have really fun years. He got A LOT out of Howie, who I loved having on the team. He certainly reached out to the community in important ways, and his energy was really fun. But I just flatly disagree that Myles Che and Ladji Dembele woulda fixed the problems this team faced, would they have helped? Of course, they would have. I remain convinced that my initial impression of this hire was correct. HOWEVER, I remain hopeful that Josh can prove me wrong in year two (THE MAKE OR BREAK YEAR FOR ANY COACH) and help this program play relevant games again. And I really like Josh; turning this program around would be a lot of fun. I'll go live later and break down the season before we dive into portal life. Appreicate you all! #LETSRUN

Breaking News: The U.S. was responsible for a missile strike on an Iranian school, an ongoing military investigation found. The inquiry said the strike — which Iranian officials said killed at least 175 people — was the result of a targeting mistake. nyti.ms/47G2uw2
