@BarclayDon Well Don, we all know that they more than likely have been contacted for weeks now so as I said each passing day is a good thing.

@BParry19 Except that an offer and decision can be made in a phone call, so time really doesn't matter.

Well the fact that DGL and Tyrin Jones haven’t announced a portal entry yet at least tells me they are willing to listen to what UNLV can come up with. (Yes I know the portal isn’t officially open).

@jasonkredline @Oneepstein 😂 precisely! Thank you, that’s what I’ve been saying the whole time. The GOR expires so it doesn’t matter if there isn’t a mechanism to leave currently. And yes there will have to be some form of an agreement, that’s a given. You threw out the 15 yr thing which made no sense.

@BParry19 @Oneepstein So the conference ceases to exist after 2032? We may be able to come to an agreement to leave the conference after 2031-2032, But there does not exist a mechanism to do so inside the GOR.

Coach Calhoun wanted to be in a power conference and not a mid major conference. The big 12 is just a hoops league you wanna be in. Surely Cincinnati signaled serious investment. The mid major life is in serious danger across the board. Can USU do it again? #LETSRUN
Matt Norlander@MattNorlander

Breaking news: Utah State coach Jerrod Calhoun has agreed to be the next coach at Cincinnati and will return to his alma mater, sources told @CBSSports. Calhoun, 44, just took USU to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments. He'd been Cincy's top target for weeks. cbssports.com/college-basket…

Don't see it happening in today's college basketball but Tyrin Jones staying at UNLV would be huge for the program, huge for g6 and a show of ones character to carry to the NBA

@jasonkredline @Oneepstein That’s only within the time frame of the term (2032) though. Everywhere I’ve read that’s the end of the GOR and would allow them to leave if they wanted. None of the other schools would sign this either if it was that binding.

@BParry19 @Oneepstein Every time you join a conference you agree to be a member of that conference in perpetuity, Then the conference and its members establish mechanisms to leave the conference if the schools in it want too. Whats our mechanisms to leave the mountain west? Join a p4, that’s it

@jasonkredline @Oneepstein I doubt that would hold up outside of 2032. There is no way UNLV would essentially agree to a lifetime binding contract. I agree there is no way for them to get out of it before then. “Irrevocable & effective until the term ends” in paragraph 7.

The term of the media deal, But the contract doesn’t say that the conferences loses their right to your media rights after the term ends. The old conference deal had built in exit structure, this new one doesn’t. The exit structure wasn’t even specifically tied to the media deal, it was tied to the distribution. This one doesn’t have that.

@BParry19 @Oneepstein Our Media rights are tied to the mountain west in perpetuity. We can leave for a p4 any time we want, but the grant of rights isn’t tied to the expectation of the media deal. There exists no mechanism for us to leave the mountain west for another g6 conference.

@jasonkredline @Oneepstein Jason, they need more football schools. Unless they can grab Memphis/Tulane. 15 years is a stretch, GOR expires in 2032. I’m speaking more of when the BIG12 and ACC get raided for the two super leagues. There will still be good teams left over.

@BParry19 @Oneepstein Memphis offered 150 million In payouts to the schools in the big 12, No share at all And the ability to be kicked from the conference with no long term promises, and the big 12 said nah. I doubt we end up in the pac in the next 15 years.

@jasonkredline @Oneepstein They are, but taking a smaller share is always an option if forced to do so. I think it comes down to what happens to the ACC in the coming years. Might free up some spots in the B12 once they move to two super conferences. We prob end up in the PAC when its all said and done 😂

@Oneepstein @BParry19 I think the p4s are full. They don’t wanna share revenue with g6s. It’s more likely we end up with current p4s that are relegated than new p4 schools.

@Oneepstein @jasonkredline It’s the only way. That’s why I believe UNLV is all in on football and basketball is being neglected. If we had a huge donor base it would be different, but it would still be a huge uphill battle because of missing out on millions of TV money that the others get.

@AggShowYo @TBM_JY UNM by far in basketball? Yeah that’s about it. You know that’s not where the dollars are & the media market is why UNLV was “propped up” along with a football program that is on an upward trajectory with huge upside. Prob shouldve offered USU instead of AFA, beyond that 🤷🏻‍♂️

True. It should be reported that Gloria did not value Utah State whatsoever and did not think we would get an invite to the PAC. That’s why the MW offered Utah State $2M to stay while propping up unLv and AF. Low ball the shit out of us and expect us to play nice. I genuinely feel bad for new mexico. By far the best school in the conference and getting the absolute shaft. Your propaganda campaign will end in July and you’ll go back to getting zero clicks.

The wage gap may be reason #1 for no mid majors in the Sweet 16, but the committee forcing the 28-win A10 and MW champs to play Michigan and Arizona in the second round sure didn’t help.
Jenna Fink@jennamfink

Tommy Lloyd says Utah State is a “really good basketball team”: “If they were a five or a six seed, I wouldn’t have been surprised. If you win the Mountain West regular season and tournament, I think that’s a pretty powerful statement. We felt it out there today.”

@BParry19 I’d put odds on keeping either under 10%. Jones has a lot of buzz right now and can see him being a 2nd rd pick by a team betting on his potential

Rebels short handed again & lacking size inside tonight. Made pushes in the 2nd half but gave up so many second chance point off of offensive rebounds. Looked absolutely gassed with about 4 minutes to play. Now the offseason begins and trying to do everything to keep Jones & DGL

@josh111520 I agree with those dynamics, but there were a few BS ones that sent them to the line that were away from the basket. Either way you can’t expect to win giving up that many second chance points.

@BParry19 Arizona dominated the inside and out rebounded USU by 28. All those extra opportunities in the paint will lead to a bunch more FTs. That and USU took 15 more 3s than Zona.

As much shit we all talk about Utah state, they definitely were on the unfavorable side on fouls. 39 foul shots for Uof A compared to 11 for Utah State.
