La BBC révèle comment Israël applique le « modèle Gaza », comme l’a lui-même nommé le ministre de la Défense israélien, en détruisant des milliers de bâtiments dans le sud du Liban à coups de charges explosives.
Il s’agit de maisons familiales, parfois habitées par plusieurs générations, réduites en poussière, emportant avec elles la mémoire et les souvenirs de familles libanaises désormais déplacées par Israël vers le nord du pays.
Un ami palestinien de longue date m’avait confié avoir reconstruit sa maison à trois reprises à Gaza depuis 2014, après chaque destruction par Israël. Aujourd’hui, il n’a plus aucun espoir de rebâtir.
Israël n’a jamais considéré ses voisins comme des êtres humains méritant une dignité humaine ..

Under international law, transit through waterways like the Strait of Hormuz must remain open and free of charge. This is what leaders made clear in their call on reopening the Strait today. Any pay-for-passage scheme will set a dangerous precedent for global maritime routes. Iran has to abandon any plan to levy transit fees. Europe will play its part in restoring the free flow of energy and trade, once a ceasefire takes hold. The EU’s Aspides naval mission is already operating in the Red Sea and can be quickly strengthened to protect shipping across the region. This could be the fastest way to provide support.
