Whereas the religious Swatsika was typically depicted sitting flat. The Nazi party adopted the Hachenkreuz as the symbol in the 1920’s.

The word "Fascist" is from the Latin "fasces" — axe in sticks, symbol of Roman king's power to punish subjects.
