@norman_cal5445 The problem with invasive species is that the line is completely arbitrary. "Native" species are just whatever was there when we first bothered to start keeping track.

No. All the science is very clear on this—you SHOULD kill invasive species. They degrade ecosystems, reduce biodiversity, and are bad for One Health. Eradication of established invasives may not be possible, but it’s worth trying. Natives can and will succeed if you help them.
Patrick Heizer@PatrickHeizer

I urge everyone to get over their blind rage against "invasive species." As the keystone species of a globalized world, humans need to be wiser than such simplistic narratives.

also worth noting that some species CAN naturalise (dingoes for example) after introduction. In australia in particular a lot of these invasive and introduced species have been here well under 300 years, some mere decades, and yet they have colonised wide areas of the country

where I live blackberries, gorse, pine, broom, foxglove all form monocultures that push out native flora, fauna and insects, they strangle any biodiversity and impede on naturalised ecosystems

i think that newly introduced species that eradicate biodiversity which had been there thousands of years prior and supported the ecosystem are pretty easy to determine as “invasive”

I don’t get how people break spines on books, like not even for aesthetic reasons just why would you need to open a book that wide it doesn’t seem comfortable to hold like that

“How many pages a day” is a silly question. Not only does it depend on the prose but also the font and formatting!

I do not endorse arbitrary reading metrics as so many seem to think from this post. The whole point is that it is “silly” !
