They’re being chewed up by Iran and having their arses handed to them on a plate here in Lebanon. But they are escalating attacks on civilians and have forcibly displaced 1 million people - some 20 percent of the population - in what could be an ethnic cleansing operation on a scale larger than the Nakba. My best friend is Muslim, and she has been fasting. I’m not a Muslim, and I don’t. We joke about it. She’s going to a white CoE funeral, and calls me to ask what the norms are and what to wear and say. This summer, I’ll be going to a family wedding with her and asking the same. Because that’s integration. That’s how you build a society that works. We don’t all have to be the same. We just need to have policies that allow for proper mixing and insight.

I have just had the worst shift in 8 years. So many worried people. The diagnostic uncertainty for this IS SO BLOODY HARD. People sitting outside as no room. The lack of clarity over prophylaxis - and no provision for kids under 12 to get it. (They took our cipro stock away cos now a local UKHSA hub) Why is there no “plan ready to go on the shelf”? Again. Did nothing get learned from Covid? Seems not. It’s a fucking disgrace. And we have to manage and keep people safe and make it up as we go to do so.

The body of 5-year-old Mohammad Ali Bani Odeh is being prepared for burial in his hometown of Tammun, northern West Bank. Ali was shot dead along with his father, mother and elder brother last night in a horrific cold-blooded murder perpetrated by an Israeli army unit at the entrance to the town. They were sitting peacefully inside their car when they were gunned down for no reason.
