wally after seeing me plop from the roof like that one meme of lois from family guy after being crushed

sometimes i forget how i got here. sometimes i forget how much i didn't want to survive.

flyaway curl back into the mostly gelled slick-back with tender fingers. “i’m very grateful to have my friends here. i am. it makes the days pass much faster. you’re just — you’re different. good different.”

wally, you are definitely not ‘just some guy’.” he uses air quotes to emphasize. “you’re funny, you’re supportive, you’re generous. it’s the little things about someone that make them more than the average joe. you’re not just a guy to me.”

“really?! you were worse than me? that’s insane. not — ! in a bad way! i’m just used to being the emotional one.” alex decides to be bold and scoot in even closer to rest his head on wally’s shoulder. “i feel much better being stuck here with someone like you.”

“that’s high praise considering that you saw me quite literally at my worst.” he’s lucky that his death was pretty much instantaneous like wally’s was, though the dread of it lasted much longer for alex. “you’re pretty cool. you make me laugh.”

least you’re not alone. no matter what, you’ll have me. not that i’m much fun, but y’know.”

alex did notice, and as a result, he scoots in closer himself. “i didn’t mean to knock on your lucky shorts. sorry.” he giggles and snorts. a beat passes. “do you ever think about what you’d be doing right now if you were alive?”

alex turns away from the glaring sun and towards wally, chuckling softly at his statement even though nothing funny was said. to him, it was. “telling me not to worry is like telling you to leave behind your blue shorts for once.”
