Hong Kong Skeptics - truth prevails.

Dorothy Yeung, Research Manager of Our Hong Kong Foundation, responds to the 2026-27 Budget released on 25 February. Dorothy Yeung welcomes the injection of HKD 500 million into the Chinese Medicine Development Fund, but it is crucial to ensure funded projects align with the "Chinese Medicine Development Blueprint." She suggests that the Fund should prioritise projects that combine clinical data from Chinese Medicine Clinics and Training and Research Centres and the Chinese Medicine Hospital. She also recommends that the Government step up public education on Chinese medicine health literacy, actively promoting the “preventive treatment of disease” concept. Furthermore, he proposed demonstrating the effectiveness of Chinese medicine through locally based clinical evidence, thereby supporting the international promotion of Chinese medicine. #Budget #The202627Budget #HealthcareAndSocialInnovation #ChineseMedicine #CMDF #Chinesemedicinehealthliteracy

Just reading the HKIS writ. It's..... wow. Surprised English media didn't bother reading it, or did they censor out all the interesting stuff? Haven't seen ANY of this in the press. The Lutherans demand: 🚫all other religious teachings (even those for "curiosity") are dropped (no more yoga or flotation tank meditation), no comparative religious studies; 🚫festivals outside Christian festivals to be strictly prohibited; 🚫an end to all acceptance and promotion of homosexuality, same-sex marriage and transgender-affirming care; and 🚫assets to be put to work to expand the Kingdom of God (rather than, I guess, build a fourth swimming pool). It goes on. While media in HK has focussed solely on the money and wealth of the school, this is actually a pretty bold sweeping out of the temple, far deeper than just making the school more egalitarian and instead aiming to transform it into a hardcore Christian school. Will the church prevail? The school and its many wealthy parents (half of whom are HK's top lawyers) will probably see this off at the Court of First Instance. But. Should an appeal end up in front of.... Judge Jeremy Poon... things would get very interesting. Poon is an ardent Christian, along with his BFF Ronnie Chan (of Hang Lung property empire), running their own branch of a California-based church sect in Hong Kong, and certainly a rival to the Lutherans. Poon could also ask some prickly questions of the scripture choices in the writ: some choices don't really express the stated principles. For example, the Lutherans cite Romans 13:12 to support the principle of non-participation in other festivals: but Romans 13:12 talks about donning the "armour of light", nothing really to do with festivals or idolatry for which there are plenty of other decent verses. Maybe the lawyers' AI got involved and hallucinated some of Paul's letters? Interesting times!
