Just in: @BerkeleyEarth confirms that last month was the hottest May in recorded history globally. 2020 now has an 89% chance of becoming the hottest year on record. (Records date to 1850) We are in a climate emergency.

This is big: Biden would rescind Keystone XL's cross-border permit, effectively killing the pipeline. I know cynicism has a certain allure, but with the right inside-outside strategy, a Biden administration might even pleasantly surprise the naysayers.

Just in: The JTWC has upgraded Super Cyclone #Amphan to 145kt (270kph). Amphan is now the strongest cyclone ever recorded in the Bay of Bengal, passing the 1999 Odisha cyclone (260kph). Amphan is a potential catastrophic disaster for West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Burma.

At least 237 Kenyans have now lost their lives due to the ongoing floods in Kenya, and another 161,000 families displaced since the onset of the heavy rains. So sad. Signs that we are already in a new and more dangerous environmental era! We are not acting fast enough!

Just so you know— around 70% of meat packing employees are black or Hispanic. Nearly 50% are immigrants. 15% lack health insurance. Forcing them to work in a pandemic has nothing to do with a “free market” but everything to do with ruthlessness and disregard for human life.

I graduated college into the Great Recession, applied to dozens of jobs, and got zero (0) interviews. Did a masters and it led to an interesting job, great friends, and lots of knowledge. Not right for everyone, but definitely worth considering imo.
