@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club Oh shoot. I’ll totally pause my take, which was on a tweet about the fan chants in a half-empty stadium, to quick run a qual study on those very same fans. I’m sure you’re doing the very same right now. We can share results.

@hoedeman @IHate_Your_Club When you’re ready to have a conversation that is based in fact and data, let me know. Your argument about what you think team owners CAN afford is pointless. Until then, I’ll let you argue with your facts and feelings.

“Pay the players” chants in an empty baseball stadium, is the most USL thing I have ever seen.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club If you don’t think the highest profile pro sports in the country don’t set the average fan expectation then you’re simply being obtuse and, yes, the conversation is moot.

@hoedeman @IHate_Your_Club That’s an assumption and if your argument is based on assumptions, which it very much seems to be, then the conversation is moot.

@hoedeman @IHate_Your_Club Correct, nobody has to be an owner. I’m glad you can admit that it is a willful decision. One that requires, in part, diligence that reveals the financial realities of the league before making the commitment. Just because it happens doesn’t make it right.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club Yes, a they set the baseline for fans who are chanting “pay the players” which was the OP. Which is what I was responding to.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club “Caping for millionaires” is a deeply unserious response. Yes, a negotiated deal on standards and pay is good and smart for all, but let’s be realistic that nobody has to be an owner and it’s easy enough to fold a team—as we see happen every year.

@hoedeman @IHate_Your_Club It’s not asking for teams to fold. It’s forcing the uber wealthy, who willingly committed to being owners, to maintain professional standards that are purported by the teams and leagues themselves. Caping for millionaires at the expense of workers is not something I’ll ever do.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club This is incomplete. Teams may not be but combined with all the separate companies e.g. the stadium that make up what fans see as “the team” then they’re doing great in the Big 4 and MLS.

@IHate_Your_Club @hoedeman For the most part, sports organizations are not cash flow positive. They are valuation plays or simply toys for the uber wealthy. Just because a business isn’t cash-flow positive does not excuse its obligation to its employees; in this case, providing professional standards.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club You can’t overlay assumptions from leagues like NFL or MLB onto USL for a multiplicity of reasons. Even if, all that said, players are justified in negotiating for better pay and infrastructure standards.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club Obviously, each team’s budget varies by league (champ vs 1), by market, by other elements like sponsorship, etc. My point is that wishing financial operating realities away bc owners are rich from other things is asking for teams to fold, which takes payer salaries to $0.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club Teams that draw ~5k fans with no big TV contract can’t afford the player pay and infrastructure many want them to have.

@DVOtwosix @IHate_Your_Club If they would have to spend more than the owners can afford, they fold. We have seen how many USL clubs have folded recently. The players on those teams now make $0. It’s not black and white for either side but these clubs drawing 5k fans have lesser means than many realize.

@IHate_Your_Club @hoedeman Furthermore, your argument that clubs would fold if they have to spend more is an excuse for the uber wealthy which has nothing to do with the players. The owners decide to buy clubs, knowing the economics of the league. Do better diligence or take responsibility 🤷🏾‍♂️

A Coach / Jarvis ticket would steam roll anything Democrats or Republicans could bring. It's laughable when people try to argue this with me. Spend some time offline. Good looking, physically fit white men and Jarvis are back "in."

NYC spends more per homeless person than the median NYC household earns. $81,705 per person in FY2025. And $81,705 is a floor. It excludes supportive housing (~$500M/yr), mental health response teams, and NYPD encampment costs. The city projects ~$97K per person in FY2026.
