While Trump and Xi meet, Russia is launching 670+ drones and missiles at Ukrainian civilians. This summit should be used to tell Putin: enough is enough!

The aftermath of the UAV attack on the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant. A satellite image shows a large-scale fire in the area of the open-air sulphur storage yard and the rail loading facility. A significant number of fire engines were observed near the fire zone. The so-called ‘sulphur cards’ are burning – these are storage areas for technical sulphur, which is produced during the purification of gas with a high hydrogen sulphide content. The Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant is one of the largest sulphur producers in the Russian Federation due to the specific nature of the local gas condensate. When sulphur burns, large volumes of toxic sulphur dioxide are produced, which is why the smoke above the facility has a characteristic light colour. This is critical for the gas processing plant, as any disruption to sulphur removal could affect the operation of the gas purification units and the rate of gas condensate processing. It is worth noting the facility’s high level of importance – virtually the entire territory of the Astrakhan gas processing plant is covered by anti-drone nets.

Addressing the Foreign Affairs Council – Defence Ministers format live from frontline alongside Boris Pistorius, at the invitation of @kajakallas. Earlier, during our working visit, we met with Ukrainian soldiers defending the country. From here, the message about the need to sustain support for Ukraine and ensure the EU Loan remains flexible enough to address the frontline’s most urgent needs sounded especially clear. I emphasized that 2026 can become the decisive year for ending the war if we match our strategy with speed. The EU Loan must remain flexible and without excessive bureaucracy to fund the weapons that can be delivered already this year. Ukraine is no longer just a shield — we are the global R&D hub for modern warfare. Together with our partners, we can ensure that technology dictates the peace, not Russia’s ability to prolong the war.

Palantir cofounders Alex Karp and @JTLonsdale on discovering top talent: “To appreciate talent, you need to be within a standard deviation of that talent.” “People think they’re within a standard deviation of the best if they’re the second best, but it’s a different universe.” “If you have people that are only one standard deviation above, they can’t even tell the difference between 4 and 5. They have no idea what’s going on at those levels. You need people who are good enough to even appreciate it.” “I think it’s very similar to music. Very few people can hear the blue note. Almost no one can play it. We hear the blue note on the tech talent side.” Via @AmOptimistShow

Looks like Putin's greatest achievement in Ukraine could be transforming Kyiv into a global military power. Great job Volodya.

Scoop via @CBSNews: A memo between US and Ukraine outlines the terms of a defense deal between the two countries. It would allow Ukraine to export its military tech to the US and manufacture drones in joint ventures with American companies, @aidan_stretch reports.

35,000 Russian casualties a month - exceeding their own recruitment rate. No wonder Putin's suddenly keen on peace. But it ends on Ukraine's terms. Not his. kyivpost.com/post/75456

There has to be regime change in Iran. Anything that the current regime agrees to is just a piece of paper that they will ignore. We’ve put terrific pressure on the regime, let’s keep going.

Palantir Head of Europe @louismosley tells the story of Alex Karp visiting Ukraine weeks after the war started: “They’re facing an adversary 3-4x larger in population, far larger industrial base.” “They can’t afford to sacrifice people in the way Russia is.”

Palantir CEO Alex Karp and Palantir’s Head of Europe @louismosley just met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: “We discussed areas of technological development – both in the context of combat operations and civilian needs. We agreed that our teams will stay in touch.”

Palantir’s @louismosley shares the full story of how Alex Karp met Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the outset of the Ukraine war: “What was extraordinary about that meeting was how lively he was.” “He was very funny—cracking jokes. I know he's a comedian, but still that was a very surprising and unexpected thing.” “There was a couple of times he had us in stitches.” “Zelenskyy understood that the biggest challenge the Ukrainians faced was one of mass and numbers. They were outnumbered by the Russians and outgunned.” “The only way of correcting that imbalance was with technology.” “Zelenskyy explained that he wanted us to help the Ukrainian war effort. He believed that Ukraine would be the R&D research laboratory for conflict over the coming years.” “Alex said, Yes.’” “In a war like the one Ukraine faced, there were many more targets, many more things to shoot at than they had things to shoot with.” “The big challenge was not precision—it was prioritization.” Via @Channel4

Explosions were also heard in Perm today. The distance from the Ukrainian border is 1,500 km, yet lately UAVs have been flying there like they own the place. Waiting for videos from the girls saying, “Let the war end already.”

Donald Trump is caught in an Iran war trap of his own making. He has for weeks been all-too-visibly eager for a deal allowing him to declare “victory” for … something. He seems to deeply fear making a Barack Obama-like nuclear deal. Much of this trap’s construction depended on what Trump didn’t do before military action was taken in Iran. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…
