Today's revelations by @InsiderEng show that little has changed in Russia since @Sochi2014. Russian "anti-doping" is still an arm of the state and tool of foreign policy. Russia must be fully banned from int'l sport as long as the state manipulates competition for political ends

I'm proud to be part of the @GlobalAthleteHQ team, fighting to hold administrators accountable to athletes. Abuse in sport, from the individual athlete level to the geopolitical level, persists because those wielding power lack accountability. Empowering athletes is the solution.

By excluding women from an event because there isn't a long history of women's competition, the IOC is using their past discrimination to justify future discrimination. Men's Nordic combined has been an Olympic event since 1924. 2026 marks 102 years of gender discrimination (6/6)

The IOC seems to view gender equity as a problem to be remedied over decades, as if women can afford to wait a few Olympics for a chance to compete. But women who are denied a chance in 2026 will never have that chance back, even if there is gender equity at the 2030 Games. (5/6)

Finally, athletes — especially those with the biggest platforms — must speak up to demand that Russian administrators be subject to the same measures as Russian athletes. This issue is a microcosm of the way human costs are distributed in the Olympic movement as a whole.

Other stakeholders including @NBCOlympics, @TeamUSA, @Paris2024, @milanocortina26, and @LA28 must also demand the removal of Russian IOC Members. Broadcasters, NOCs, and host cities have leverage over the IOC and a responsibility to hold the IOC accountable.

57 days of Russian bloodshed in Ukraine and Yelena Isinbayeva is still an IOC Member. In 2020 she helped rewrite Russia's constitution to allow Putin to remain in power. By doing so she helped facilitate this war. And yet she continues to hold an IOC leadership position.
