This is what @samomatseye wrote about the 95 years old mama HID Awolowo in Tinubu’s newspaper The Nation on June 6, 2011: “I wrote once that this woman whom Awo once described as the jewel of inestimable value has lost value to his cause. If he came back to life, he would have committed the extraordinary act of divorce after death. Even his newspaper, The Tribune, has so stumbled and fallen that it swims in Awo’s vomit.” Just because mama was reported to have said “I know all the children of Mogaji (Tinubu’s adopted mother) and he is not one of them” in the heat of trying to foster Tinubu as the Yoruba leader. Like the now elders in the clime of @aonanuga1956, these are the ones now demanding respect by force in Yorubaland. Awọn agbaya gbogbo.

Why did you go to the ADC in the first place if you knew you didn't have the stomach for the drama and the way money talks in those rooms? It shows you're not consistent and you're just looking for a shortcut to a presidential ticket. If you can't even convince your own people in ADC to stay united behind you, how are you going to manage the whole of Nigeria? You keep jumping from one house to another and making excuses every time you leave, but the truth is your action reeks desperation and you lack the grit to stay and fight where you are. 💔
Peter Obi@PeterObi

Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you. Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances. We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal. More painful is when some of those you associate with, believing you would find understanding and solidarity among them, become part of the pressure you face. Some who publicly identify with you privately distance themselves or join in unfair criticism. We live in a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect is seen as a lack of courage, and compassion is treated as foolishness—a system where treating people equally is questioned simply because you refuse to worship status, tribe, class, or power. Personally, I have never looked down on anyone except to uplift them. I have never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small. To me, leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise. Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building. Even within spaces where one labours sincerely, one is sometimes treated like an outsider in one’s own home. You and your team become easy targets for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as though honest contribution has become a favour being tolerated rather than appreciated. And when you choose to leave so that those you are leaving can have peace, and you step out into the cold, you are still maligned and your character is questioned. Despite all your efforts to continue working for a better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those who do not wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions. There are moments I ask God in prayer: Why is doing the right thing often misconstrued as wrongdoing in our country? Why is integrity not valued? Why is the prudent management of resources, especially when invested in critical areas like education and healthcare, wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why are humility and obedience to the rule of law often taken to be weakness rather than discipline? Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work. I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

I hate the idea that we didn’t give Christian Nørgaard a run of games and minutes to properly compete with Zubimendi as a DM. He was Brentford’s captain, seen it all and churned out good performances against EPL teams. So, how bad can he really be? If he was that bad, we wouldn’t have signed him. I hate that we didn’t give him minutes to build momentum so we see what he can offer in contrast to Zubimendi.

"South Vietnam requested America for help." Who created South Vietnam, Daniel? Tell me. Take your time. Go look it up. I'll wait. South Vietnam was not a country. It was a administrative line drawn at the 17th parallel by the 1954 Geneva Accords as a temporary demarcation pending a national reunification election in 1956. It was never intended to be a permanent border. It was never intended to be two countries. Every party at Geneva understood this. The documents say this explicitly. The United States prevented that election from happening. Why? Eisenhower wrote it himself, in his own memoir: American intelligence estimated Hồ Chí Minh would win roughly 80 percent of the vote. So Washington cancelled the election, installed Ngô Đình Diệm, a Catholic mandarin who had spent years living in New Jersey, as the leader of a "country" that had been invented specifically to prevent the Vietnamese people from choosing their own government. Then that invented country, run by an American-installed leader, "requested American help." Do you understand what you just said? You used a puppet requesting help from its puppeteer as your moral justification. That's not sovereignty. That's a ventriloquist act. And you're applauding the dummy for having opinions. And Hồ Chí Minh "started this war with Chinese communist help"? Hồ Chí Minh was writing to Woodrow Wilson in 1919, at the Paris Peace Conference, appealing for Vietnamese independence based on Wilson's own Fourteen Points. Wilson never responded. The man believed in American ideals before most Americans were willing to apply them to non-white people. In 1945, when he declared Vietnamese independence, he opened the declaration with direct quotes from the American Declaration of Independence. He reached out to the United States for support. The OSS, the precursor to the CIA, had officers working alongside the Việt Minh against the Japanese. They liked Hồ Chí Minh. Their field reports described him as a nationalist first. But Washington made a choice. France was a European ally that needed to be kept stable for NATO. So America funded France's attempt to re-colonize Vietnam. Eighty percent of the cost of the French Indochina War was paid by U.S. taxpayers. The CIA was operating in Vietnam before most Americans had ever heard of the place. Edward Lansdale was running psychological operations and building paramilitary networks in the early 1950s. The Phoenix Program, which systematically tortured and assassinated tens of thousands of Vietnamese civilians, was a CIA operation. So when you say Hồ Chí Minh started it with outside help, you are describing America's role more accurately than his. "You should be grateful your enemies were Americans." This is the single most revealing sentence in your reply. Genuinely. Frame it out and look at it. You are telling the Vietnamese people to be grateful for how they were destroyed. Grateful for 3 million dead. Grateful for Agent Orange that is still producing disabled children in 2026. Grateful for Mỹ Lai. Grateful for the bombing of hospitals. Grateful for the embargo that strangled reconstruction for nineteen years after the war ended. Because it could have been worse. This is the logic of the abuser who says "you should be grateful I didn't hit you harder." No. We are not grateful. We won. Gratitude goes in the other direction. If anyone should be reflecting quietly on how things went, it is not the Vietnamese. You said "don't start a war with Americans." We didn't start anything. We were a colonized people who wanted our country back. First from the French, who had occupied us for nearly a century. Then from the Americans, who funded the French, then replaced them when the French lost. We didn't come to America. America came to us. We didn't choose this. We chose to survive it. And we did. That's not a threat. That's not aggression. That's just history. History that already happened. History that ended one way and not the other. You can look up which way on April 30, 1975.

Bismillah Please read and digest this thread; it will be helpful to you as a Muslim so that you won't "sleep on the bicycle." I just want to inform you that Laylatul-Qadr can fall not only on odd nights but that, most of the time, it actually falls on even nights. Let's begin by citing the hadiths that establish the significance of this blessed night for Muslims. There are about ten hadiths that I can recall regarding Laylatul-Qadr. The majority state that the Night of Majesty should be sought in the last ten days of Ramadan. On the authority of Aisha: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يجاور في العشر الأواخر من رمضان، ويقول: تحروا ليلة القدر في العشر الأواخر من رمضان، The Messenger of Allah used to observe i'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan and would say: "Seek Laylatul-Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan." On the authority of Abu Hurairah: أريت ليلة القدر، ثم أيقظني بعض أهلي فنسيتها، فالتمسوها في العشر الغوابر "I was shown Laylatul-Qadr, then one of my family members woke me up, and I forgot it. So, seek it in the last remaining ten nights." Let’s suffice ourselves with these two hadiths for now. The reason we were commanded to search for this night is due to a dispute that occurred between two men, causing them to raise their voices in the presence of the Prophet. This is evident in another hadith narrated by Ubadah ibn Samit. خرج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ليخبرنا بليلة القدر، فتهاحى رجلان من المسلمين، فقال: خرجت لأخبركم بليلة القدر، فتهاحى فلان وفلان؛ فرفعت "The Prophet came out to inform us about Laylatul-Qadr, but two men from among the Muslims were quarreling. So he said: 'I came out to inform you about Laylatul-Qadr, but so-and-so and so-and-so disputed, and it was lifted.'" For students of Arabic language, the verb used for "Quarreling" in this Hadith was derived from the Arabic word for "beards" which could be translated that the two men were dragging their beards—according the explanation of some scholars. Since we are to seek Laylatul-Qadr within the last ten days, particularly on odd nights, it is necessary to consider the total number of days in Ramadan. If Ramadan is 29 days, then the last ten days will begin on the 19th night. If Ramadan is 30 days, then the last ten days will begin on the 20th night. Many Muslims focus solely on the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 29th nights for increased acts of worship. However, if Ramadan happens to be 29 days, this approach may lead to missing Laylatul-Qadr altogether. Additionally, in a hadith reported by Ubadah and some other companions, the Prophet said: فالتمسوها في التاسعة والسابعة والخامسة "Seek it on the 9th, 7th, and 5th (of the last ten nights)." This hadith instructs us to seek Laylatul-Qadr on the 9th, 7th, and 5th of the last ten days. There is no specific hadith that explicitly states it falls on the 21st, 23rd, 27th etc. By calculation: If Ramadan is 29 days and we start counting the last ten days from the 20th night, then: The 22nd night will be the 3rd night of the last ten days. The 24th night will be the 5th. The 26th night will be the 7th. Looking at it from this angle, the laylatul-Qadr will fall on an even night in the month of Ramadan. Many people have spent years unaware of this due to the widespread misconception that Laylatul-Qadr only falls on the 21st, 23rd, or 27th nights. Another intriguing point is that the majority of Ramadans we observe are 29-day months. In fact, the standard lunar calendar follows this, while having a 30-day Ramadan is the exception. So, do not be selective about which nights you dedicate to worship during the last ten days. This might be your last Ramadan, and it might be mine too. Share this message far and wide. May Allah accept our heartfelt prayers. Ameen.

Narrated by Ubādah ibn aṣ-Ṣāmit رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Whoever gets up at night and says: 'Lā ilāha illAllāhu, waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shaiʾin qadīr. Alḥamdulillāhi wa-SubḥānAllāhi wa-Lā ʾilāha ʾillā llāhu w-Allāhu Akbar wa-Lā ḥawla wa-lā quwwata ʾillā bi-llāh.' لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير الحمد لله وسبحان الله ولا اله الا الله والله اكبر ولا حول ولاقوة إلا بالله (None has the right to be worshipped but Allāh. He is the Only One and has no partners. For Him is the Kingdom and all the praises are due for Him. He is Omnipotent. Praise be to Allāh and Glory be to Allāh, and There is no God but Allāh, and Allāh is Greatest And there is neither Might nor Power Except with Allāh). And then says: Allāhumma-ġfirlī اللهم اغفر لي (O Allāh! Forgive me). Or invokes (Allāh), he will be responded to, and if he performs ablution (and prays), his prayer will be accepted." The goals are drying up for Arsenal & it should be a worry for Arteta. Saka is off & link up with Odegaard is gone. Robotic football can win titles but it will be hard cos even Mourinho with Boko football had top strikers & midfielders that score many goals. If Man City suddenly peak & go on a run, Arsenal should be worried.
