I’m on here for leftist politics & anti-car culture takes. More & more I want bike+transit Twitter to connect w stronger politics-we’ll never yimby or vote our way out of car dependency. We need anticapitalist politics that directly challenge power structures that keep us driving

one major thing the Left needs to learn is how to disagree on things without being nasty pricks to each other. somebody having a different analysis than you on a situation does not make them a cop or a fed or whatever else comes to your mind. you shouldn’t even be loosely saying shit like that without hard proof, that’s a sign that you aren’t serious. somebody being a different flavor of Leftist than you does not make them an enemy. put yourself in the shoes of a normal working class person who is angry at the current state of things and is interested in organizing and looking for likeminded people to help weather the storm. would you want to involve yourself in a toxic milieu where having a slightly different opinion will result in self-righteous, miserable assholes yelling at you?

we shouldn’t be calling people like AOC/Zohran who model their line after Scandinavian socdems “socialists”, it vulgarizes the term. They are social democrats. If they were in Europe they’d be recognized as such. The only reason folks do so in the US is because the default politics in the US is so far to the right that the center in the European context is the Left in the American context.

Sounds like activist Cindy Darrah, who owns a home at the corner of Second and Peterboro, next to Detroit Shipping Co., is having trouble finding resources to make repairs on her house. It needs tons of work. She says she feels like there is pressure to remove her.
