【揭阳虐狗事件】
近日，网传多张聊天记录显示，部分地区以“小狗画面”和“呼吁保护动物”为主题的公益广告遭到暂停投放。
一家大屏广告商称，相关内容此前已经投放，但随后被“相关部门要求暂时下架”。
另一对话中，工作人员表示，由于动物保护议题近期“网上两波舆论太大”，没有“上级官方口径”，基层无法自行开展公益宣传。
另有地铁广告服务方称，因“极端人士投诉及舆情管控要求”，尚未提审的“小狗画面”暂不接受审核，预计8月1日后恢复提审，8月10日前后才能重新上刊。

【揭阳虐狗事件】
7月19日，BBC报道揭阳虐狗“旺旺”事件。
报道称，事件曝光后，相关内容在小红书、抖音等平台遭删除、限流，杜江、陈乔恩发声也被下架。
声援随后扩散至台北、纽约、香港、澳门、日本等地。
一名大陆受访者称，其所在不足200人的动物保护群中，已有数十人接到警方电话或被上门约谈，被要求“不要煽动、不要组织”，部分成员家属也被联系。
