The Hong Kong authorities' continued malicious persecution of former Apple Daily staff is disturbing. The Chinese government is again failing to uphold its promise in the Joint Declaration to protect freedom of the press and freedom of speech

The compelled closure of Apple Daily explicitly exemplifies the narrow-mindedness of the tyrannical regimes in Hong Kong and China. The open-mindedness of British Library manifestly contrasts with the intolerance of diversity of opinions.

We are enormously grateful to Bodleian Libraries for the intention to collect Apple Daily. One of the values of Apple Daily is the truth itself. Persecutors will succeed in rooting out the truth, unless we constantly assert the truth and liberty.

Oppressive China's National Security Law is intrinsically a blatant violation of civil liberties. The extirpation of Apple Daily is the epitome. A myriad of Hong Kong values and chronicle, was retained by Apple Daily. It is indispensable to archive Apple Daily in libraries.

The catastrophic extirpation of Apple Daily, is the epitome of the oppression of liberty of printing by the tyrannical regimes in Hong Kong and China, and profoundly requires a myriad of potent sanctions against tyranny.
