@joeroganhq Be careful of what you wish for. If he really becomes a dictator tomorrow, you might be the first person who will cry for mercy right away.
Maddow: "If and when we hit our 300th anniversary, whatever media we have then will be looking back at this 250th anniversary. It’s just gonna look like this feckless, failed, truly laughable effort by a cult of personality, would-be dictator..."
@thecyrusjanssen There are cameras everywhere. China can also build a high speed train railway between SF and LA in a year….. because China government can tear down anything on the way without a blink. You are indeed “safe” across China, but at what price?
What is true freedom?
We often hear than the United States has freedom and China doesn’t but what’s the most important aspect of a “free” society? Safety
I’m enjoying a nice afternoon in a local mall in Guangzhou and people routinely leave their bags, computers, purses right on the table in the open with no worries. Why? Because no one in China will take this laptop.
Try that in the US and your laptop would be gone in a couple of minutes. It’s one of the things I most respect about China.
I'm Canadian, and for the life of me I cannot understand it.
After everything Donald Trump has said, done, been accused of, and admitted to, how are people still defending him?
It makes absolutely no sense to me.
Clara Mattei brilliantly debunks a century of capitalist propaganda by explaining how capitalism is unnatural, has existed for only 0.1% of human history, took control of the world through violence, and is maintained by coercion and the superficial facade of liberal democracy.
@newstart_2024 Japan is a country and culture that the whole should learn some pieces of it here and there. Itself is a result of adoption of ancient traditions and modern western culture.
Japan has the longest and healthiest lifespan on Earth, and almost zero obesity.
4% of Japanese adults are obese. In America it’s 42.5%. Walk into a typical Tokyo school with 1,000 kids and you won’t see a single overweight child.
Johann Hari explains it’s not genetics. Japan deliberately built an environment where it’s hard to get fat and easy to eat well: every school hires a professional nutritionist, kids eat fresh, balanced meals prepared that day (no packed lunches allowed), and processed food is a tiny minority of the diet.
They transformed their entire food culture, and it worked.
What’s your opinion, could countries like the US and UK ever adopt something like Japan’s approach to food and obesity?
Do you agree with Trump being left out?
For the first time in US history the sitting President was not invited to attend the opening of a predecessor's library. Clinton, Bush and Biden all showed up at the Obama library... no Trump.
Your Thoughts?
Adam Schiff released a video fantasizing about what “we” could pay for “by the wealth of our first trillionaire."
"$1 trillion, if we decided to distribute that equally among American households, your household would get $7,500..."
Sounds downright utopian, Adam.
🔥🚨LATEST: These liberal children were seen leading a protest in Los Angeles against ‘facisim’ at Elon Musk’s Tesla restaurant, these children threw heavy profanity at anyone opposing their views as they encouraged customers to jump from the top of the building.
The young boy with nail paint and a bandanna appears to be leading even the adults, this is what the media has created.
Bandanna Bandit: “You racist fascist f*cks! You’re supporting a predator file who wants to r*pe children!l”
We are banning social media access for under 16s.
These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life.
I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.
🇺🇸🇨🇳 This American went to the hospital in China and was stunned
He walked in, was seen, and treated on the same day.
And the cost? In the U.S hundreds of dollars, in China, just $4!!
@lfer80098@OunkaOnX Man, it all depends on who you are comparing with. No system is perfect, but if you compare US and China from free speech and democracy perspective, it is day and night. Anyone who was originally from China can tell you that, well unless they were from that “upper” class.
Jimmy Dore: "We preach democracy to China. But we don't have democracy here - the oligarchs run everything. The Princeton study proved 90% of people's wishes never become law. Only the top 10% of wealthy matter.
In China, the government sits above capital. The economy works for the people. Here, capital sits above government. The economy works for billionaires"
@lfer80098@OunkaOnX In US that happens in corporate level, in China that is in a national government level since all news media is controlled by government. It is not too hard to see the difference.
Henry Nowak’s family have lost their son and brother in the most appalling circumstances.
Nigel Farage is exploiting this tragedy to create grievance and division.
It’s completely unforgivable.
@NYCMayor@ryangrim This is the ultimate irony - a mayor who wants their government to have maximum control now setup a stamping org for government efficiency. Every socialism gov tried that, this is not even original. Good luck with that.
This morning we are introducing COGE — the Commission on Government Efficiency. This Commission will find ways for our city to work smarter, faster, and more effectively for working people. New Yorkers deserve a city government as careful with their money as they are.
Zohran Mamdani met with FIFA for months and worked to get New Yorkers a chance to see the World Cup for only $50, with a free bus ride.
Ticketmaster is selling the same ticket for $500+...
Imagine how much brainwashing it took to convince people that socialist progressive policies are bad for the people
@MetamateDaz Bozos said something like this - my contribution to this society is much larger from my for profit company than from my philanthropic donations. Keep in mind this guy domained billions.
I genuinely don't understand people like Bezos and Musk.
If I had billions of dollars, I would just start fixing everything. Homeless veterans sleeping on the streets? Not on my watch. Hungry children going to bed with empty stomachs? Hell no.
They could be making life better but instead choose to build spaceships and data centers to pump stocks and destroy the planet
In a 1:52am post on Truth Social, Trump said "Colbert is finally finished at CBS," adding, "thank goodness he's finally gone!"
That's the president cheering the loss of American jobs, since roughly 200 people are out of work due to the cancellation of "The Late Show."
