@petersterne Peter, I believe what you are missing is that AOC *did not* say that we should to go war with China in the first place, and in fact took a less hawkish position than Biden on Taiwan. So criticism is not of Ross’s position but that it is a needless attack on an ally

You can certainly disagree with Ross' argument – plenty of liberals who believe AOC should maintain a hawkish China policy do! – but this is fundamentally a critique of AOC's foreign policy *from the left* so I don't understand why anti-imperialists hate this article so much.

🚨A DSA resolution adopted this week at the 2025 convention is titled “For a Fighting Anti-Zionist DSA.” It sets Pro-Palestinian standards that can lead to the expulsion of members and the revocation of national or local endorsements. As part of its enforcement criteria, the resolution lists “making statements that ‘Israel has a right to defend itself’” — a phrase repeatedly used by elected American officials to justify Israel’s genocide in Gaza — as conduct that puts a member in “substantial disagreement” with DSA’s principles and is an expellable offense, subject to a two-thirds vote of the National Political Committee, after “fair and ample opportunity for education.” For endorsed candidates, it is also grounds for having their endorsement revoked locally and/or nationally.

This is misleading and irresponsible. Unlike what Kate implies here, both Shahana and Chi were endorsed by Open NY in 2025. Both are committed socialists and will strengthen our movement. Vote yes to Shahana and Chi!

I voted YES on Chi and no on Shahana joining SIO’s. I like her, I respect her, I voted for her to be my CM, but I want DSA 10k miles away from Open New York, a real estate lobby org she is close to. I want DSA aligned w/ NYC’s tenant movement not developers. My one concern.
