After my initial celebration for winning the prize for the world #2 run, I was deemed disqualified from Zizaran's Last Epoch Uber Aberroth race. Before I jump into the details of what happened, I want to preface this post with the following: - I accept the disqualification without dispute and am happy for all the other winners for also accomplishing this insane challenge successfully, everyone fully deserves the recognition - I am not mad at Zizaran and his team for how they handled the situation and no one should hold it against them - I am not mad at EHG for any reason either - I am not mad about the loss of the prize money (although that's a lotta pizza 🍕) - From what I gathered, neither Zizaran nor EHG (who can track all kinds of stuff for my account) think that I actually used any unfair advantage in the race Here's what happened: 14 months ago, before the launch of Last Epoch's 1.0 patch (official release), I was given access to the Closed Testing (CT) client by EHG. I don't recall the exact circumstances, but it was effectively the last few days right before launch where the attitude was pretty much "whatever". I simply loved the design of the then newly introduced Falconer Rogue mastery and wanted to try it out for a bit, and leveled one of them to level 80 or so (and made a guide for launch). Launch came (Feb 21, 2024) and I never touched this CT client again (see screenshot below), tossed aside and ignored in a list of a random hundred steam games. Fast forward to April 13, 2025: Zizaran announces the race & rules. Everyone knows that I live for this stuff and of course I want to claim the world first, with many acknowledging I would be a likely candidate for that achievement given my track record. I begin practicing and preparing for it, making sure I do what I can to max my chances. Fast forward to April 20: World First Aberroth falls, slain by Wudisch (funny coincidence), with a follow up a few hours later by me (#2). I celebrate and go to sleep after an exhausting 3 days of racing, knowing I had achieved something incredible despite coming in second. The next day I wake up and start my stream, then realize that there was a dispute about this. My stream just finished (it lasted for 36h because I decided to blast a HC Marksman from 1-100 in one go), so it took a while to get this reply out on X (still awake typing this). In any case, at no point in time was I either aware or even considering the possibility that I could have been disqualified. I did read the rules and understood them. Just by logic alone it would be foolish to invest dozens of hours of prep and another few dozen hours of racing to try and win a prize I knew I wasn't eligible for because EHG would be able to tell in an instant if I had violated any rules. Further, it would be even more foolish and extremely hypocritical to try to claim that I did so legitimately even though I secretly used advantages like insider information or even practicing on CT. What I was not aware of is that the CT client that EHG gave me 14 months prior was actually still functional and getting updated with all the latest patches (including the one for season 2 with Uber Aberroth). Now, being the content creator that I am, I have been invited to all kinds of secret beta tests, dozens of times across various games at this point. But the way that EHG handles this (no blame, just describing) struck me completely by surprise at this point. From my experience, the general flow pretty much always goes like this: - Sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) - Get game client access - Access gets revoked/patched/server goes offline after X amount of time - In case of another test later on: usually a new client download is needed, likely even a new NDA The way that EHG does things is that they just left my steam account flagged to enter the CT at any time indefinitely, while I considered this a "one and done" moment from over a year ago. I also do not have an active NDA with EHG - neither was I asked to sign one 14 months ago, nor for season 2 (or season 1). I'm not sure why that is and it might be simply because they trust me enough, or perhaps it's an oversight because it appears other people like my fellow Maxroll content creators do have NDAs including dates for embargo lifts and more (as was prominently discussed in our recent podcast for example). From my perspective, without the NDA a crucial component was missing that made me consider myself "automatically excluded from all other tests until further notice" and thus I never thought about the CT client again or even tried to install or launch it. The same goes for the Last Epoch CT Discord server that just vanished somewhere in my folder of "never touching this again" (featuring 178 unread pings at the time of the race, maybe someone in there is in the mood to see how far back those go, see screenshot below). And while I clearly didn't use any of these possible advantages, that's the point where Zizaran's hand was forced due to the rules he set for the race because it's technically correct that I had access (even if I was unaware of the fact and didn't want it). In hindsight things could obviously have been handled differently including by myself to prevent this outcome, but given the history it simply is what it is now. Lastly, for those that are off the deep end about all kinds of accusations about me, I do have a few more things to add to the story that should convince anyone about my legitimacy and the absence of inside info or early access. This is not an exhaustive list, just what came to my mind in this moment: Things I DID do (on stream) that a CT player would be unlikely to do: (before the race) - Stream an average of ~12-15h per day for the past 3 weeks (mostly PoE), leaving little time for anything besides YT and sleep - Waste 2 of my 4 lvl 1 to Aberroth practice runs on Rogue which was impossible to win with from the get go - Learn the entire Sentinel class (the winner class) from scratch ~3 days before launch because I've never played it before - Pogging out with my viewers about all the new stuff revealed in every post/podcast/etc leading up to S2 launch - Study the S2 patch notes for a total of 8+ hours (during the race while the clock is ticking) - Analyze the first SC Uber kills by Snap/Empyriangaming & co, Fubgun, Bina to study mechanics for around 1-2h (while my competition was potentially still grinding and listening to me) - Make a short YT guide about the weaver tree that is already insanely outdated a few days later (new incoming btw) - Make several wrong assumptions about my speed of progression and gearing, in particular about the drop rates of Rune of Havoc that cost many hours to fix - Get confused by new legendary drops I've never seen before, loot filter problems, and various other patch nuisances - Study and try the weaver tree and various farming strategies on the fly - Carefully test every single champion / weaver monster and their abilities to understand which are dangerous - Practice and limit test all the mechanics of the Uber Aberroth encounter for 2-3h on a SC char (during which time the first kill by Wudisch happened before I went in for real since everyone could see when I was getting ready) Things I DIDN'T do (on stream) that a CT player would likely do: - Use the insanely effective Lostwood Folly/False Temple woven echo strat to level up and farm, which is clearly superior to whatever I was doing - Use Carn's Judgement cleansing tech to make the Aberroth fight significantly less challenging with a slight tweak to the build (due to more experimentation/build testing, not meaning Carn was in CT) - Actually know season 2 content like what all woven echoes do, how to place them on your echo web efficiently, which are the important ones and how to fit them into your progression strategy - Immediately imprint all the right items into the weaver tree for giga gearing speed instead of testing various useless options for a day - Immediately understand what weaver idols actually do and which ones (or which enchants) I'm looking for - Just GIGACHAD walk in and blast Aberroth first try no questions asked Honorable Mentions: - During the Diablo 4 HC world first race I voluntarily withdrew from any official prizes (the Lilith statue engraving) due to beta & press early access - I occasionally highlight on stream when I know things in advance, for example during Diablo reveals (even if I may not share what), for sake of authenticity - It would have been REALLY nice to ask for early access, pump out 20 YT guides on embargo lift, and just start blasting in peace (which long-term easily weighs more than the prize money without the risk of not winning), but the race and a possible world first was more important to me. Knowing I'd be disqualified earlier would have made it an easy decision to go all in on beta testing instead for the sake of creating guides for the community instead ---- In any case, this post includes everything I have to say about this. And while it would be amazing to actually win a prize and cash in, in the end it wasn't about earning $2500 for me but more about the journey. I LOVE these HC races and even without a prize I would go for the world first because everyone knows that's simply what I do, but obviously the hype and fun factor are just much higher when there's something like Zizaran's race with cash prizes going on and all the tryhards show up to snatch a piece of the pie. Props to Ziz & team and EHG for hosting this event. I had a TON of fun despite everything, and continue to blast the season for as much as I can. I also want to give a special thanks to my community who had my back during this and showed much understanding. A ton of people expressed their support after the disqualification, and in fact gifted subs or donated in response to this, which I dearly appreciate. To end this long post on a bit of a positive and humorous note: I'm over it and simply hope at this point everyone understands that my run was fully legit, with no leaks, no secret early access or anything of the kind. If not, I deserve AT LEAST a golden globe for best actor for my performance this past week if anyone really still believes I fooled tens of thousands of people watching without anyone suspecting me of anything all the way to Aberroth 😂 Anyways, GG! #LastEpoch @Zizaran @LastEpoch
