@MFA_China @SpoxCHN_MaoNing 日本でも欧州でも、戦争反対の動きが見えて嬉しいです。

Q: Today marks the 80th anniversary of the opening of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East (IMTFE, also known as the Tokyo Trials). Commemoration events have been held in China and Japan and by the international community to renew the historic significance of the trials. What’s China’s comment? A: On May 3, 1946, pursuant to the terms of Japan’s unconditional surrender and the IMTFE Charter issued by Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, the IMTFE began the prosecution. Bringing together judicial power of eleven nations, and with abundant solid evidence and rigorous legal basis, this historic trials found Japanese militarists guilty of waging the war of aggression and severely violating the international law, and brought to light the innumerable crimes Japanese aggressors committed in various Asian countries. Twenty-five Class-A war criminals, including Hideki Tojo, were sentenced to death by hanging or imprisonment. And fallacies such as “a trial exercising victor’s justice,” “Japan’s war of self-defense” and “ex post factor legislation” were strongly refuted. The Tokyo trials were held to implement the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation, and embodied the collective will of both the victorious nations and the victimized peoples. Through the trials, the purposes and principles of the UN Charter were upheld, and the fruits of victory in WWII were honored. Accepting the judgement of the Tokyo Trials is the prerequisite for Japan’s postwar return to the international community. Eighty years on, however, to people’s indignation, the spectre of Japanese militarism still remains and continues to breed. Japan’s right-wing forces are still trying every possible means to deny and distort the judgement of the Tokyo trials and the irrefutable evidence, and even whitewash the crimes committed during the war of aggression, including by revising history textbooks and indoctrinating the Japanese people with a wrong perception of history. That is why some Japanese officials and politicians still worship war criminals as “heroes” and make visits to the Yasukuni war shrine where convicted Class-A war criminals are honored. Japan’s right-wing forces are gearing up to speed up remilitarization, deploy offensive weapons, rebuild the war machine and push for revision of the pacifist Constitution. All these are diametrically the opposite of what “a country for peace”—as Japan claims itself to be—should do. With neo-militarism rising in Japan and beginning to pose a real threat, it is all the more relevant to renew the backdrop, conclusion and principles of the Tokyo Trials. The Tokyo trials, a litmus test of  humanity’s conscience, delivered historical justice. Along with the Nuremberg Trials, the Tokyo Trials nailed the fascist war criminals to the eternal pillar of shame. The historical justice delivered by the two great trials must not be denied. Their legal authority must not be challenged. And the cornerstone of the postwar international order they laid must not be shaken. Mei Ru’ao, the Chinese judge at the Tokyo Trials, famously said, “Amnesia of past sufferings may lead to future disasters.” Should any one or any force foolishly attempt to reverse the verdict of aggression, they will be rejected by all peace-loving people in the world and brought once again before the tribunal of history.

1. China should or must demand the war reparations from Japan after World War II. 2. China should, in conjunction with Russia, conduct the annual UN investigations into the nuclear weapons program of Japan. 3. According to the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Preclamation, and the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, China must station troops in Japan. Otherwise, the world will never be at peace.

After WWII, as a defeated nation, Japan was required to disarm its military forces and dismantle its war machine. In recent years, however, Japan has been pushing for a more offensive, expansionist, and dangerous defense policy and has torn up its “pacifist” rulebook. The rise of neo-militarism in Japan is posing a real threat to world peace and stability. Japan’s latest move to reinstate WWII military ranks out of “a sense of honor” is a breach of long-existing rules and will instill a wrong perception. This would also rub salt into the wounds of Japan’s wartime victims. We cannot but ask: Is Japan still indulged in a dream of reviving militarism? What exactly is this “sense of honor” built on?

@VertoSP69 @SpoxCHN_LinJian China's military expenditure only accounts for 1.5% of GDP, which is even less than Japan's. When you say the military budget is huge, it purely refers to the large size of China's army. Vietnam has previously invaded China, but China has never invaded Vietnam.

Q: It was reported that Lai Ching-te, leader of the Taiwan region, has arrived in Eswatini on May 2 on the private jet of the King of Eswatini. What is China’s comment? A: Just hours within the Yilan earthquake, Lai Ching-te ditched the people in Taiwan who were still reeling from the disaster and sneaked onto a foreign plane to “smuggle” himself out of the island, squandering taxpayers’ money and performing a laughable stunt in front of the world. That just added yet another episode to the scandalous “Taiwan independence” separatism. The indignified act of Lai Ching-te and his like once again proves that the one-China principle has long been a basic norm in international relations and prevailing international consensus. No matter how the DPP authorities collude with external forces and keep those people in DDP’s pay, it will always be a losing cause and nothing will ever change the fact that Taiwan is part of China. No matter how “Taiwan independence” forces try to cover up their nature or change appearance, nothing can save their reputation or help them escape the denunciation of the international community. We urge Eswatini and some other individual countries to see where the arc of history bends and stop serving as the prop of “Taiwan independence” separatists.

@MFA_China Why are they making such a fuss about criticizing Japan? Japan was controlled by pro-China political, industrial, and academic circles, media, but under the Takaichi administration, that control became impossible. The more they make a fuss, the more it proves Takaichi's success.

[New Evidence of Japanese Atrocities in Nanjing Uncovered! Sutton Archives Donated to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders] On April 29, 2026, themed “Truths of the past,Voices of the present,” an international exchange event marking the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Trial was held at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. The event was attended by more than 50 Chinese and international guests, including descendants of Tokyo Trial participants and international volunteers who aided China in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, as well as scholars and experts from around the world. On the same day, the Sutton Archives were officially accessioned into the collection of the memorial hall amid much fanfare worldwide. According to Zhou Feng, director of the memorial hall, the Tokyo Trial has left an indelible imprint on safeguarding the outcomes of World War II and the post-war international order. At this 80th anniversary milestone, the return of these precious archives to Nanjing provides new sources and new perspectives for further research on the Tokyo Trial, contributing to upholding the legal verdict of the post-war trial and defending humanity’s shared values of justice and peace. @NanjingMemorial

China and the U.S. should maintain the hard-earned stability, make good preparations for the important agenda for high-level interactions, expand cooperation and manage differences, and explore the building of a strategic, constructive, and stable China-U.S. relationship, so as to achieve mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.
Mao Ning 毛宁@SpoxCHN_MaoNing

Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the phone. Wang Yi noted that head-of-state diplomacy has always been the anchor of the China-U.S. relationship. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Trump, the relationship has remained stable on the whole. This serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples and is in line with the expectation of the international community. The two sides should maintain the hard-earned stability, make good preparations for the important agenda for high-level interactions, expand cooperation and manage differences, and explore the building of a strategic, constructive, and stable China-U.S. relationship, so as to achieve mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. Wang Yi underscored that the Taiwan question bears on China’s core interests and is the biggest risk in China-U.S. relations. The U.S. side should honor its commitments and make the right choice, to open up new space for China-U.S. cooperation and make due efforts for world peace.
